new battery
I've owned my 2005 SRT roadster since 10/07 and it still has the original equipment battery. I haven't had any problems, but as a preventative measure, I am thinking it should be replaced. MY SRT is only used between April and Oct. and is kept in heated storage, and started and run for 20 minutes every few weeks. Rather than the battery failing at an inopportune time, I choose to replace it now. I've done some checking for replacements. The most economical find was at O'reillys part#48-72 for $94.00 with core trade. Others were NAPA BAT 9848 at $210.00, and Interstate MTP H6 at $163.95. The Walmart Everstart 48-3 at $62.00 is no longer available. Anyone else found anything better?
I think it is time for a new battery for me. I left my headlights on for like 1 hr 30 and batt was dead. I got it charged and have had no problems but it's the original mopar batt I think.
My vote for the Interstate MTP-91 ...... One thing you should know. This battery requires a "spacer" because it's just a little too short. No Problememo! Check the previous post with picture, and you'll see that a short piece of heater hose was used for this.

I put it in last April and the little piece of heater hose works perfectly on top under the hold down strap....and it's black too

BTW, I did not use any kind of spacer on mine.

I'm always honored when one of my pics is used.
Here is a really light weight option....Real light... available from Needswings and weighs only 14 pounds..good for up to a 600 watt stereo and 850 cranking amps. I am ordering one...takes 25 pounds off the front end of the car!!!! only $90.00

Been using the Odyssey for over a year. Not a single problem, and you can't beat the weight savings...only 17 lbs.

MotoMaster Eliminator #10-4800-8 (Canadian Tire, Canada)
(Looks similar to the MTP-91 above)
Identical to OEM battery, single strap handle, black case, identical vents, keep your original vent and the plug that goes into the hole the other end and fit to the new battery, no spacer required. 690 CCA, reserve capacity is 85 minutes, 3 year replacement, 9 year total limited warranty with 3 year roadside assist. YIKES! Can.$120 less $10 for return of old battery.
I went with a smaller batt it weights 18 lbs less than the stock one ,I have dad it for 4 months now and everything is fine i like the lighter weight and the cost wasn't bad either. it is a 26 r ,,i think it is used in some jeeps hondas and my crossfire. i did add a rubber spacer under the hold down brace ,it worked . jim
