5.7L or 6.1L Hemi Trans.
What manual transmission do these engines need? I have tried searching on google to find the answer with no avail. Do I need to use a Tremec TR-606 or can I use a T-56? This would be great since the 6.1L is the about the price of a LS3. From searching a LS3 will require more work with this car, more than a Hemi would.
I think it is technically a 722.6 and the newer mopars are a 722.9. i dont think they are compatible. especially with the overprotective MB ECU
he's not asking about the auto's
if someone contemplated a 6.1 swap then put an automatic behind it, i would be required by manlaw to pimp slap them stupid

I have a sequential manual thatll shift faster than your automatic
I just hate them, suck for road racing or any other kind of sport that involves turning.
all out drag racing, eh I could see it but a lenco would take the abuse better.

Yes I was talking about putting a manual trans matted to a V8. The only V8 I find is Latana's V8 but its an auto and a benz engine. An automatic was made for woman and old people, or if you want an auto buy a grocery getter. To me they should never be put in a sports car. I am not looking to go straight only, thats only a very very small portion of my driving and I never race, maybe some point on the track someday.
Side note reason I am asking is I am trying to find another sports car that has a somewhat small engine that I can eventually put a V8 in down the road. I have a Solstice right now that I am trying to sell due to job issues. I am looking at a crossfire, a RX8 was looking at the 350Z but the insurance will be a lot (my uncle has one and pays a lot for insurance.)

I will take it from the manner of your post, that you are close to 20..... If so, I started driving manuals about 15 years before you were born. Having said that, I love this automatic for drag racing, and it suits my needs just fine. Not because I am old, but because I like it. You will get further with others wanting to help you if you think about what you are saying before you stereotype the people on here that have the greatest wealth of knowledge.

I would be in my later 20's, and I was not stereotyping I was stating an opinion. I love driving a manual, I have driven automatics and I just don't like driving them. I would like to use a LS engine, but I dont want to rewire pretty much everything just to use it, so then I am left with either a Hemi or a Benz engine (w/ an auto.) I have searched through all the threads I can before I became a member and only found reference to 3 people who have v8 swaps. This car would not be a weekend car only, it would be driven almost everyday of the week.

If you're serious, I'd more than love to see it happen and applaud you for taking on a challenge of this magnitude and would be more than willing to provide whatever info I have that will help you out. If you're tire-kickin this idea around and want something you can do on a sunday afternoon, this is not your ride.
Once I can sell my car and I go with a crossfire I will definitely contact you for some more information on the V8 swap. Thanks for letting me know.
