Default Water pump failure :(

My SRT developed a squeeky pully or belt. Then it stopped and my battery light came on and I lost the power steering. Opened the hood and the belt came off. I have an extended service contract so I had brought into the dealer. Dealer says it needs a 2 new pulleys, a new belt and a water pump all to the tune of $1400.00 ouch!

Come to find out my service contract expeired at 70k I have 72K and some change on the clock. Working with Chysler to see if they will still fix it under warranty.

$1400.00 for a new water pump a belt and 2 pulleys sounds a little bit too much. Anyone have any insight on this one? Anything you got would be helpfull.

Thats a lot of $$$ but if you dont do the work there is not much choice. Id recommend that you find a mechanic and get a better rate for the job. The pullies are no big deal the water pump is really a test of your skill, and I have done it twice. Hint the bolts are not the same length or same size, weeeee. But not too many make 1400 in a day, 1000 if you deduct the tools and parts costs. Woody Me Id do it before I let the $$ go to another but to each is . . . .

bring the car here and you can drive home with a CAI kit installed on the car along with the water pump being swapped and with a new idler (im assumiing).

I know I thought of that too. I got the Eurocharged guys in my backyard. Going to wait to see if they cover it under warranty I have a case started they said they might make an exception. Ill know by Monday.
