Premium or Regular Gas...Which r u using??
If I remember correctly, the engine WILL retard timing if the octane is lower. You will noticeably lose power, and possibly even gas mileage, as the engine will be forced to run in a more inefficient state because of the lower octane, increased chance of knock, but it WILL run...long term, who knows. Stick with premium, especially if there's 93 in your area...only 91 here and I STILL feel bad putting it in the Crossy.
PS I Kinda hate you a little for having an alabaster roadster.

I R using what it says on da label.
Premium.
U may have got her cheap but she ain't a cheap broad. Treat her right.
Use the good stuff.

Premium - It only takes a few dollars more to go first class. As good mileage as these things get it doesn't make that much difference.
I live and breath fuel quality issues in my job. Premium is recommended for the engine, and that is the gas I use. It may cost a little more to fill up the tank, but at about 10 cents a gallon differential, it's only about a $1.50 more per fill than using mid grade. You'd be fine with mid grade, and the car will adjust for the lower octane, but you do increase the change of potential engine knock and it may (not necessarily) cost you a smidge mpg- but that is really dependent on the fuel (fuels do vary in energy density, within a limited range). However, most gas has a minimum of 10 percent ethanol in it now (national renewable standards) so the difference in energy value of the fuel between regular, mid and premium is now marginal. The octane number if the primary difference. Given that, and the fact that the numbers on the pumps are "minimums", you may actually be getting a little more octane than posted -- so 89 may be 90 or higher, etc. -- but I wouldn't count on it. They won't "give away" octane like they used to when splash blending occured.
Eitherway, even I knowing what I know, I still use premium. If it's only a buck or two a tank difference, and you fill up 1 time per week, it's only 50 to $100 a year difference.

I am going to experiment with mid-grade and regular gas. My father is an automotive engineer with 50+ years of experience with internal combustion engines, and he says that for the kind of driving that I do, premium gas is probably unnecessary. I'm driving exclusively on flat Florida roads, without rapid acceleration, and I'm almost never on the highways. My car is a "boulevard cruiser." If I do note any signs of pinging or reduced power, I'll definitely go back to premium gas immediately.

I use premium 93, for 3/4 of a tank and 1/4 race 103 in almost every tank,,, my car loves it ,, that gives me about 100 octane if it was 20 gal each time it would give me 102 but it never gets below 1/4. so i know i have at least 100 octane I mix it at home and fill my tank when needed. My gas mileage somewhere around 8 to 11 mpg now with the v8 my mileage should go down,, around 5 to 8 mpg, don't you just love it.LOL. jim

You are warm in winter and hot in summer.
And you want to use the cheap stuff?
What's the Vin on your car so we can avoid buying it.
Mine is a daily driver and I do occasionally get a bit aggressive but not on most days. When we had nothing but the lower octane, I can tell you the MPG went way down. To the point of being a BLVD bandit, if that is all you use it for, then it is about as close to a garage princess as I can think of and you might as well use the good stuff IMHO.
Does anyone know what the ECU does to reduce ping?
As I understand it, the engine control retards timing and richens the fuel air mix. There goes your milage.
No significant gains from using the low grade stuff.
Shall we now talk about using the cheaper oils in the crank case?

I have always used premium in both the SRTs. About six months ago I went on line and found a pure gas dealer in my town. The no ethanol pure gas wakes up the coupe. It is a difference I can feel and at about 10 cents a gal over premium. I used to get between 220 to 230 per tank with the ethanol premium, now I am going 260 to 280.Give it a try and let me know what you think.
I used reg during IKE because I couldn't get anything else. Only a few tanks. She gets premium all the time since. She does run better on it. Seems to be a little more punch.

I have to say, my XFire get's significantly better gas mileage than that. I don't have an SRT6, and I don't drive it agressively (at least not all the tiime) and I've been getting between 22 and 26 mpg -- and I drive in the worst traffic in the country -- and I know I'm using E10. I guess I should be pretty happy with that.
Just be informed, E10 is in about 90% or more of all gasoline now and likely will be in all of it very soon. It may go higher as well -- up to E15.
