Photos are required to show the problem.
No, my oil cap isn't that close to the hood....did you sit on your hood?......just sayin'......seriously, you aren't tightening too tight are you...'cause I can't see the hood being the problem...
I'm sure you guys (180 and Doc) would know better then me, but is it possible he's running a single CAI, and has a broken motor mount that torques the engine enuff to contact the hood?

That's a good idea, correct reaction.
yes sir, it would have to be lifting the engine to contact the hood...could be a broken motormount, but I would think you would feel that....My old '69 Z had to be chained down, it would eat motor mounts...don't tell me I will be bolting me engine down soon...lol...
Hey. Iv checked the motor mounts. There all good and tight, im running an set airbox assembly and engine cover ( this is on my N/A) how ever I had this problem before the mod. How do I up load photos to the forum so I can show you the spots that rub
Are you sure that it is actually rubbing the hood. Is it the oil filler cap or the oil fitler cap? I was wondering if the oil filter top was getting brittle due to heat and age and cracking. The only other reason is motor mounts, or maybe a rear motor mount/ transmission mount.

I up loaded pictures of the airbox assembly as we as the rub marks too my hood and oil cap. To my users Gallery. Im not sure how to post pictures with my reply
I am presuming that the hood is sitting properly on the car.... I could understand the non-standard air box/intakes rubbing the hood, but not the oil cap... especially with no insulation on the hood....
Can you lower the engine cover and boxes more??? If you take the engine cover off, does it affect how it sits?? i.e. not touching the oil cap....

The airbox's cover don't effect the cover at all I had the same problem with the original engine cover.... iv had this prob sence new so its doubtfull it has to do with any parts misaligning
My first car was 1965 mustang. I went through two radiator hoses before I figured out I had a bad motor mount. On high revs the engine would lift up and the fan blade would cut through the hose.
To find out if the cap is hitting the hood I would put some plumbers putty on top of the cap. Close the hood and open it again to see if the putty is squished, or even stuck to the hood. If not, take the car for a ride with some healthy acceleration. Chech the putty again.

There is no doubt that it is hitting the hood... the pics show it very clearly.... I guess I would do a triple check of the motor mounts then.... you are the first to report having this kind of a problem.... ever...
(with a Crossfire)
I would do this.....not sure if you have a stick or an auto...but, raise the hood, have someone watch the engine as you hold the brake and torque over the engine, to see if the engine lifts any. Just because the mounts are bolted down, doesn't mean they aren't broken...

Its def not motor mounts this has been happining sence I first bought the car ( im the original owner) and the mounts have have been replaced with ridged mounts ( no rubber). The oil cap has rubber through both before and after the mounts where changed so i know its not them ... btw the car is a 6 speed
