My Mercedes engine cover hits the hood liner as well and has made an impression in the liner, without the liner I think it would hit the hood. If the engine cover was 1" lower I think it is possible that the oil cap could hit the liner as well when the engine rotated up.
There is a slight dent in the liner the other side as well.
My engine cover needs to be tilted down at the front somehow.
That oil cap is not like mine, could it be taller than the stock one?
Who put that engine cover on it and who took off the hood liner?
The OEM engine cover barely fits and my Merc one is definitely too high.
What I'm getting at is that maybe the engine cover is too high and the oil cap is too high because it is too long itself as well.

must be the torque when changing gears....'cause I have none of that....doesn't look like there is anything you can do...
