Default Help with DIY injector swap out on NA

I have been searching the thread for about 4 days and I can not find a DIY on swapping out the injectors. I know there has to be one because I have seen talk of it. Can anyone help direct me?

Thanks for you help!

I couldn't find a thread on that but I did an injector upgrade a few weeks ago and it's a breeze. Here a link to the service manual that'll help:

http://www.majormotorshotrods.com/_d...ice_Manual.pdf

Fuel rail removal and installation is on section 14, page 19 (overall page 2312)

Fuel injector removal and installation is on section 14, page 33 (2326).

I'd add, to make the installation of the injectors a little easier, put a little WD40 on the sealing rings before pushing them into the manifold.

Don't forget the rags!!!!!!

What injectors are recommended?

Thank you so much man! I was getting to the point where I was either going to just jump in or start calling to get quotes!

Thanks for the tip as well!

Did you need any spacers or anything for fitting purposes?

Not a one. They were a perfect fit.

Curious, any difference with other minor mods?

I installed my new injectors and the starting is a little rough when the engine is cold. I'm assuming every time i turn the car off it goes back to thinking it has smaller injectors until it reads the air/fuel ratio. Does this sound reasonable?

I have a Eurocharge tune, and they said they can retune my engine with the mods i've done since. Hopefully they can help settle this problem.

I am pretty sure it should not start up rough every time. Maybe the first time due to the rail being dry when starting, but after the first start it should be running fine. I am pretty sure your ECU does not forget anything unless your battery is dying every night.

give me an update after the retune! I bought and cleaned up some of the V8 MB 19lb injectors and your rough starting gave me pause before installing.

I called up Eurocharged and Clint told me that I need to have my car Dyno'd so they can read the fuel tables off of it then they should be able to reflash the car.

I think the closest place is about 2 hours. When I get it all figured out I'll let ya know how it goes.

I don't drive my car a lot so i haven't fully given it my diagnosis yet, but it seems to have more trouble with hot starts than cold starts. None the less, it starts every time, and runs fine from there.

Good question, ask FP.

He did the upgrade and even after retunes, he reported that he had a loss of power with the larger injectors. I was under the impression our injectors would do up to something like 300HP with no issues and to the best of my knowledge, no NA has anywhere near that, unless it is using spray...

Just offering what I know of the upgrade - if it does work and you can report back good news, I am all for it, but no one has shown dyno gains with the upgrade, and the ones who are still suggesting it have no proof of gains that I am aware of.

I had a 30-minute conversation with Rob (Needswings) at the race track about two months ago regarding the injectors, and he simply said not to fool with it on the N/A machines.

Aside from the power loss, there is an issue with the idle/drivability during normal loads.

This car is an enigma in several areas, injectors being one of them. This is the only car I've seen that doesn't respond well to an increase in injector flow-rate.

Well i figured that one out lol. Hopefully Eurocharged can get me running right. If i ever want to sell it, i'd have to put the origionals back on lol.
