Before sending my Crossfire to Florida for the winter, I had a new Interstate battery installed in my 2006 Coupe because I didn't want my daughter to have to deal with a flaky battery. She just called to tell me that the battery is so dead that the dome light doesn't even come on. She's going to try to get the car jump started tomorrow and drive it to the Firestone store in Naples. I assume that they will honor the warranty given to me by the store in Ohio although I'm not certain that I want to go with another Interstate. I'm just disappointed that I'm not there to help her. I'm sure things will work out.

 

That's the first I've heard of a new Interstate battery dieing. Rest assured Interstate will make good on the warranty.

 

I can tell you for years the best batteries I ever bought were Interstate, hands down.

I put a new Interstate in my Crossfire a few years ago before I had any trouble with the old one. The first year of 'winter' with the new battery, I had no trouble with the car starting after sitting sometimes for a month or more. This winter I had to charge the battery twice to get it started. I really wrote it off as the Ultragauge hooked up. Once I disconnected the Ultragauge, I never had to charge the battery, but it did crank slower than it would normally.

And then another forum member was over last week and he was telling me the same thing with his SRT. Never had to jump start with the OEM, but had to jump twice with the Interstate after the car sat for extended period.

I am starting to have second thoughts on the Interstate brand that fits our cars.

I am contemplating acquiring a carbon fiber Battery for use in my triumph R3. . New technology that I want to try. High performance, light weight, no acid to spill. Gary

 

If my wife said a new battery was dead I would think she left some lights on or there was some other problem. I would not immediately assume that it was dead.

Look on the bright side, she could have been stranded somewhere cold.

 

My daughter found someone to jump start the car and she drove it to the Naples Firestone repair shop. They checked out the car and could find nothing wrong. They tested the battery and found nothing wrong (other than the fact that it had no charge). Sarah swears that she didn't leave anything in the car turned on. The mechanic at the Firestone shop cannot say for certain what drained the battery and sent her on her way after charging the battery. I'm sure I'll hear from her if this happens again. Not to worry, though. I am taking the car back on April 12th and she can have her 2000 Saturn back.

 

I guess the Interstate batteries don't last in Florida for some reason. My son's lasted only 1 year in his SRT4 and lasted only 1.5 years in her Grand Am. Never will we purchase those Interstates again.

 

if the car sits for more then 3 weeks, the computer drains the battery, look it up on internet

 

She had driven the car on Friday and it refused to start on Saturday morning. It is a mystery what drained the battery. I'll flying down to retrieve my car in a couple of weeks and will try to figure out what went wrong.

 

Interesting post since I'm going to drag my roadster out of storage tomorrow and was planning on replacing the orig Varta with an Interstate Mega-Tron Plus 85. I like the Interstate because of the exact fit.

But if the Interstate's quality is dropping, what battery do you guys recommend that has an exact fit?

And yes, I saw Dave's informative post with the battery listing a while back.
