Question Painting my engine cover

I want to paint my engine cover to match the color of my car. Iv looked at alot of threads but i have yet to see a clear answer on what kind of paint to use. So if anyone knows what kind of paint to use so that the heat wont make it flake off, and the process of prepping the engine cover, that would be great to know. Thanks!

Looks good ! Now what is the trick to keeping the letters silver on top? I've seen several done that way..

The only thing i taped off was the part that is still silver in the middle, the sprayed the paint. after it dried i took some silver paint and a small paint brush and just hand painted the letters back to silver...its basically impossible to keep them the original silver. in the picture you can see where i taped off with blue tape

Sure is. everything on the car is still original...except for the color of the engine cover now of course.

you have lived a charmed life, my friend.

I'm sure you have seen all the horror story threads about old batteries, right ?

( I should talk, mine is now 4 years old, and it was a replacement. )

Ha no not yet. might have to look into that tho. the car only has 42000 miles on it so it hasnt even been broken in yet. thats probably why it still has the original battery in it

Sorry to re-boot an old thread but that looks fantastic, has it lasted ok over the months?

Mine has some paint missing at the front and I want to re-paint it, did you use a conventional primer?
