Supercharger problems
I have an 05 SRT Roadster, app 32k miles. Occasionally you can tell the supercharger is not working, most of the time it does fine. I know it is belt driven but is it using a clutch for engagement?? If not then what is the problem? Any other problems it might be. No unusual noise just feels like a regular Crossfire, which is not bad but not an SRT!!
Thanks
Gary

Do a search on the supercharger problems I'd wager there is enough reading materiel to take up the rest of the week! I know a lot of the srt crowd have replaced Thiers with a Johnson Pump.
Same problem here as well.
Most people here went with the Johnson pump because of the increased flow but that pump requires a bit of a mod to the bracket and the plug. Another option is to go with the Bosch OEM replacement that can be purchased at NeedsWings and Rob (the guy I emailed with at NeedsWings - who, by the way, is VERY helpful) said he has sold them for several years with no complaints from customers. I opted for the Bosch, but I didn't order it from Rob. Rob stated that the unit he sells is a Bosch part number 0 392 022 003. I read on a Mercedes Benz forum that Bosch has a new model out - part number 0 392 022 010, which they were saying had better flow than the 003 as well as being more robust. Rob ordered a 010 and did a flow test and he said the 010 and the 003 were exactly the same flow rate - 3.25 gpm. I didn't want to modify my bracket, nor did I want to change my plug, but I wanted the latest Bosch part (the 010). Rob didn't have them for sale at the time so I ordered it from Amazon. It is an exact match and the electrical plug fits as well. No mods required. I just replaced the pump on 6/3/2012 so we will see how long it will last.
On a side note, the bad pump I pulled off the car was a Bosch 003 unit.
Wish me luck ;-)
