Default Rear Cats Delete Pics

Pluses: More aggressive sound you'd expect to hear from a sports car
No need to buy a cat back exhaust
No drone whatsoever
A money saving mod

Minuses: Will have to get back to you on this. I havent come up with one yet

Material used: 2.365" OD S/S pipe(2 pieces 10.5" long) Mig welder with .035" S/S wire

Cost of mod: $0 + my time

Nice job Mario. Looks great. Curious......why did you decide to use the OEM flange on one side and direct weld the other side ?

Looks to me like he just replicated the OEM configuration. I would think the way to go on this myself..

IMO, it's the right way to do it for future servicing. Otherwise, the whole front exhaust becomes common and a whole lot more difficult to handle. The other plus is you get to fab one whole side on the bench

Edit: The OEM is flanged the exact same way

+1 for on the bench. Upside down welding makes a man out of anyone. Great job, thanks for the pics!

Thanks for the positive feedback guys. Sound is the same @ idle. The different sound comes out under load and specially when reved-up

problem for us is that once we remove the cats it becomes a failure on the annual "road-worthyness test"

Can we get a sound clip, please? :-)

thanks

Just for info purposes-I had a problem last time with the first part of the Drive Clean test... pressurizing the fuel system. It failed at Canadian tire because it was one guy that did it and the hose didn't seal properly on the filler pipe. Active Green+Ross in Welland had the same prob, but the guy got his coworker to hold the hose up and no problemo after that-has anyone else had similar problems? Is it my car or a Crossfire thing?

Nice job on the Cat Deletes. I didn't see you mention but I have to ask... Did it cause a check engine light?

I have a stock n/a covertibe w/auto and am itching to start but am terrified to get into check engine light issues.

No "Check Engine Light". I suppose this could happen if you removed the front cats

I am getting a little upset with this Turbomar, he does everything to his car in record time while the rest of us are still thinking about the current project. It's a good job he's not local to the S.O.C.O. group as we might have to shun him as he just shows us up, me in particular. Boy, these eager beavers just pi$$ me off.

My list of things to do keeps getting longer and I have most of the parts, I just can't get started on any of them as I cannot decide what to start first
.

Now I have to decide what tires to buy, this too could take a while like the springs and/or shocks project.

Mario, if I gave you my car with a CAI to be refitted, a paddle kit and the new pads and rotors I'm sure I could have it back a week later all done and dusted. I would then have the tires put on as I'm not too sure I'd trust you with them.

Thanks for the compliments Dave. It means a lot coming from you. I can do front tires. Different story with the rear 275/30ZR19's. Most shops dont even want to attempt them. The beads wont sit until there's over 60 PSI inflation

Welcome to the Forum!

No trany mod as of yet. I have the paddle shift but that doesn't do anything performance wise. Yes, autostick
