The gearing was too much for it in town driving. There were several ways to "fix" it but none were inexpensive. Above 30mph the car was really fun. Under thirty really laggy/crappy.

I got a call from my local j-yard today. They have the 5.3, harness, and ecu out of the truck and ready for me to pick up. I also just got an email from my realtor. My buyer is wanting to push the closing to Friday which really screws up my schedule. Maybe I can pick it up Saturday morning.

I like them and want them but I am debating whether or not to turbo this engine. If I do turbo it I'm pretty sure the stock diff will explode. It's really a matter of will it fit.

turbo or not the diff will take a beating. put the wavetrac in and worry about the axles not the diff. then the dr's will have the hook your looking for!

A guy completed it, but from what I understand needed an entire front clip from the LX platform to make it work, had a lot of money and time into it, and it was still not as fast as an SRT, if memory serves.

It was on ebay last time I saw it.

i used to have a '05 S2000 and i currently have an '06 XF Limited and i can tell you that the S2K was A) More fun to drive and B) quicker than my XF. The S2000 may not be a torquey car but its not "gut-less". Those little cars go when you want them to

So far all I have done is put together a new shop crane and engine stand. I have a few more days of house maintenance to do before I can get my new shop ready for the swap. I also have a couple small maintenance issues to deal with on my Eclipse. I should be posting some real updates and pics in a week or two.

I tore up numerous S2000's with my old Mitsu 3G Eclipse GT (205hp and weighed as much as a cruise ship). What I found with the XF, by the time high revving 4 bangers get spun up, I'm already down the road.

As for engines, just off the top of my head, a 3.9 ltr, 280hp V8 out of a 11th Gen T-bird might be a good engine. Thats the size and power the XF should have come with. Nonavailability and feasibility being another story.

I finally went and picked up the engine this morning. I got this 5.3 with 120k miles with all accessories, wiring harness, and ECU for $750. Only things missing were the throttle body and alternator.

So far it looks to be in good shape. No sludge and turns over easy. Before I break it down further I am going to see how it fits in the engine bay.

Got a little time to check how the 5.3 is going to fit. There was lots of wiggle room and the engine needed to be tilted to the rear but I think you can see how much room there is to work with.

The truck oil pan is obviously too deep by about 2 inches, but a rear sump pan will be what I use. Once I get the right pan I will fabricate motor mounts and start modding the trans tunnel.

Pulled the heads off this morning. Crosshatch is still visible in all the cylinders. A lite honing is all they require. So far I have an LS2 intake, 102 mm throttle body, ZR1 Cam, LS6 valve springs and fel pro gasket set ordered.

Nice!! Are you gonna run a blower? The ZR1 (2010+) cam is for the supercharged Ls engine. Also think the 3bolt timing and Ls9 springs would be needed. but i m sure you know the deal. I cant wait to see your car running! Awesome!!

There will be some kind of forced induction that's why I chose the ZR1 cam(LS9 specs are 211/230 duration and .562/.558" lift @ .050"). Most likely a single turbo. The LM7 already has the three bolt timing sprocket. The LS6 springs are good for the lift of the cam and supposed to be good for ~11psi of boost as well. Now that I have the engine disassembled I'm pretty stoked about this build. Only problem that I have ran into is one broken exhaust bolt.
