Aluminum and stainless steel are too far apart on the galvanic corrosion scale and should not be used together. Stainless steel treated with a plated coating would be acceptable.
I'll leave that to you and maxcichon to argue about.
I'm just going by what Max tells me ( and gives me ), he knows about this stuff as part of his job.
I'm a computer guy and weekend mechanic, not a metallurgist.

Besides, my engine does not get wet. Ever.

Ok, I have a large update for everyone. For the sake of keeping everything original down to the last screw I am in search for the bolt I snapped. ( I made a mistake I get that, but who does'nt from time to time.) The dealer cannot order all, er, well most of the screws for the water pump, I cross referenced an SLK at the Mercedes dealer and found 4 of the 7 sizes. Of the 3 remaining is the one that snapped. I tweeted "@chrysler Dealer cannot help I need to find the parts for my crossfire #help," and within a day they emailed me and within two days Chrysler of Detroit (well Warren, MI same thing) called me. I have been working with a really nice guy up there to find the bolts for my car. He called my local Chrysler dealer parts manager to do some research. Chrysler said they found all the bolts and they will comp. the cost for me! I went to pick them up and there were too many of one size, not enough of another, and some missing. I called Chrysler back and said they were the wrong bolts again. He said well I'm stumped at this point, just tow your car to the dealer and Chrysler will figure it out and we will comp. the pump and labor. I am ever so grateful they are willing to go the extra mile to figure out where to get these parts! I never asked for anything or blamed anyone it's nobody's fault, but they are willing to comp. the project because of the headache its been to find the parts. Chrysler told me the Crossfire had a "Running Production Change," not sure what that means, but I assume a few of the assemblies where changed on the fly during production? Long story short the car was towed to the dealer last night and it is now in their hands. Its been months since I have driven it! Cannot wait to drive it again!
