Default SRT6 or V8??

What would you want... Trade up for a SRT6, or do a v8 swap. If your car is paid off....

As of right now, a V8 swap isn't a quick drop in and start it up mod. Therefore, unless you have have a second car, you'll need to figure in a mode of transportation for the down time.

With the price of the SRT's so close to the NA's, I'd go with the SRT.

I'm leaning that way. I may give the wifey the na roadster and buy the srt6 next year...
Nobody wants to give $ for any used cars right now, its crazy.... Not worth getting rid of the car, she is great, I'm just ready to move on to more, I miss my power....

TO SAVE MONEY YOU HAVE TO SPEND TIME (V8 SWAP)...TO SAVE TIME YOU HAVE TO SPEND MONEY (SRT)

Your preference between TIME vs MONEY will help you make your decision

Does this make sense?
A V8 engine and parts has got to be more than an upgrade to a SRT from an NA.

As others have said, if you have the time and the money, do a V8 swap. They are definitely bada$$. If you are short on money and time, go for the '6. A few mods (CAI, SC pulley, and tune) will really get the '6 moving.

The deep sound of Bob's (LatanaTX) V8 sounded like a true muscle car.

I have had the pleasure of driving 2 of the Rudy V-8 cars and they are amazing. Jim's car is running 11.2's and with Rudy in town turning wrenches sure to make improvements. My car is an absolute blast to drive but my dream is to some day get a Rudy transplant. Each time I drive one of thoes cars it takes weeks to get it out of my head.

So if you have the resorces the V-8 would be my vote. On the other hand an SRT 6 to start modding will keep you grinning for quite a while. You really can't go wrong either way.

It does take time for the NA V8 swap but most of it is research and the learning curve for DAS. Money wise I almost guarentee you cannot find an SRT for the price of selling yours and the difference for an SRT of the same mileage/condition... Plus if you have average intelligence and a good set of tools it can be done in a weekend with the auto trans... Just my .02

Once I complete mine I would love to either help or do it for others. .... Although, even if I were to do the ECU stuff, I would still recommend you do the mechanical parts of the swap because it is easy peesy, pretty time consuming, but IMHO it just isn't worth paying someone to do for you unless you don't have the right tools... Like a basic socket set, swivel extensions, extensions, a torx set, torque wrench, wrench set, etc... Stuff most of us have already. All I had to buy was a grinder with a cutting wheel for the motor mount mod, and find a good welder for the custom exhaust manifolds.

Edit: I forgot the major stuff most don't have... A cherry picker or A-frame lol, and an engine stand.

You make it sound too easy, some people have average intelligence but not a mechanical understanding. My wife would be above average intelligence but using my tools she would still be looking at the parts at the end of the day and scratching her head. It requires a basic skill set that is lacking in at least 90% of the population these days.

Get an SRT6, Spend every cent that you possibly can on every single mod you can possibly think of for the SRT 6, and be unhappy. wait don't spend that money on modding a "6",, stop don't mod that 6, now go buy a limited with high miles on it. Call Rudy and have a V8 installed, you will have spent about the same money but as Bigkid said grrrrrin every where you go. Oh the down time is very close to 30 days.

btw sk8erjosh, I am waiting to see your car up and running but remember, I can't wait forever I'm 70 years old, you are going to have it built before i am 90 right.

Thats true! Didn't think about that... That could be a show stopper.

That makes sense 180, it would still be a matter of research though. As long as you're motivated enough it's possible. Me, I refused to go to an outside source. I get pretty uneasy when other men try to lay hands on my woman.

It better be! lol .... It has only been 3 months though, and I am taking the slow route. I could have bought a computer from Rudy, or had the free-lancing Mercedes engineer's figure it out, but I am more curious in what exactly they know and can do. Look where it's gotten me, there are only a handful of people in the world as far as I've heard that can unlock the ECU's... I am now one of them. It would be great if they can give me the secrets but I understand it would be no gain for them.
