Default Aftermarket cams?

We all know the Shrek .... I mean Schrick cams are impossible to find, so who knows about these guys? I don't have a clue when it comes to German but I'll bet someone here does.

NW Mercedes

Lately I've been dreaming of cams and Needwings heads. I need meds.

There's a company in Cali that builds cams for this engine but they start at $2500 I believe.

Me too Les, should we slap each other before this goes any farther?

Yes, I'm sick. A week ago I was looking for a new engine and now I'm obviously tripping. But hey, I'm going to look into all the options before discarding any of them. My search my lead me to a Z06 or bankruptcy.

I have to ask, would cams alone really be that beneficial? Not just on a SRT, but on an NA car as well.
Wouldn't you really need to mill the heads (to raise the compression) to enjoy a real performance improvement?
That being said, has anybody ever had their Crossfire's heads milled?

I can't keep mine on the road now. New summer treads going on tomorrow evening. Maybe she will hook up then. Poor old all seasons were getting chewed up. I will never go internal on these engines unless necessary. They seem to be well matched now.

I've contacted some of the companies and they all have them for the same price and say it's 25hp 20tq gains. Maybe a bit of dyno time and eurocharge tuning could increase that.

Pretty big claim for just a cam change. Could help a little but I would doubt that much HP with just a cam change.

Yes, usually with bigger cams you need more compression. Bigger cams mean more valve overlap, so you compensate with more compression.

This is the homepage of Schrick: AVL SCHRICK GmbH - Member of the AVL Group

Just contact them (e-mail adress is available under Imprint) and ask where you can get their products in the U.S.

Regards
Markus

Actually, I'm considering some head work and figured cams would be a good idea while it's apart but for the prices I'm finding, I'll most likely pass. Perhaps upgraded valve springs for some added rpms is a better way to go. I like to stew over my ideas for a long time so my horizon is more far than near.
