NA Exhaust options.
NA Exhaust options.
So I have been reading a bunch about the the exhaust options for the Crossfire. It's hard to decipher the threads that discuss the SC and the NA options. I am looking for a bit deeper tone, and little to no drone.
I am driving a 2005 Roadster and I bought a magna flow, used on the fourm. It was shipped and never made it to me so now I have to do this again. I have seen some muffler options that claim a deeper tone but see that fitment is a concern. Looks like if I did a muffler only, I should be looking for an off set inlet tube but I don't see any of these as options online.
I was ready to pull the trigger on the OBX as it seems to be the most complete, cost effective option but I read more and more every day about drone and dissapointed owners.
I see megan muffler options but the inlet tube is centered,
Should I wait for another Magna Flow used option?
I like this if it would weld right to the stock pipe from the resinator back for sound, look, etc.

Perhaps If I had the MF resinator back pipe, it would line up to this muffler.
Another option is the Rear Cat delete, leaving everything else as is.
Ideas?

Re: NA Exhuast options.
I am currently planning out my exhaust as well (thank you bonus)
Basically the following:
-Join the 2 2.25" pipes before the second (redundant) cats
-the Y pipe will go from 2.25 inch for the 2 inlets to an outlet of 2.5"
-add a Flowmaster Super HP-2 (18" long body, 2.5" in/out) right after Y pipe Link
-straighter route to rear
-another Y pipe (2.5" in to double 2.25")
-2x louvered bullet mufflers/resonators Link
I decided against a full dual because on weight and no real power gains (since our headers seem to be the real log jam in our exhaust)

Re: NA Exhuast options.
I don't mean to throw cold water on the gain of HP through the exhaust advocates but.... The function of the catalytic converter depends on some back pressure upstream. Thus here in CA all that is legal is a cat back modification to keep the air clean for our kids. If HP gain is from better scavenging of exhaust gases from the engine that's not possible with the cat in place. All that can be accomplished is better sound, unless you begin with the cat and that's illegal here in CA. I don't know the smog laws in other states but even so the minimal gain doesn't offset the total cost. It seems there are better ways to increase HP with that money.
I found a noticeable difference with the larger throttle body and Needswings CAI. The midrange RPM torque comes alive. That was about the same cost as a professionally installed cat back system for just a louder exhaust. Give me power over noise everytime!!

Re: NA Exhuast options.
I have plans for the power. I need my about to be dropped 1.3 inch NA to sound like she can move.
Sprint booster, Needswings single and TB are on the list of mods.
If I could get a muffler shop to remove the Catts in the back to improve sound, that would be ideal.
I have a shop that is going to swap the muffler for one a bit louder, perhaps MF or Flowmaster. Im going to see if they plan to remove the resinator when they do this.
Looks like it's going to be $200 to have one custom built with the tips of my choice.
Anyone else have a custom built exhaust made for the NA with great success.

The total cost was about $325.
Re: NA Exhuast options.
Love my Magnaflow Cat-back
I just don't hear the drone everyone keeps talking about.
It has a mellow deep sound that is music to the ears
Magnaflow Cat-Back (Part 16633)
Simple bolt on design with no welding or cutting pipes.
Installs easily using the OEM hangers already on you car
Sounds awesome as many here already know.

Re: NA Exhuast options.
Has anyone installed a Magnaflow 15054? Looks awesome!

Re: NA Exhuast options.
Like Gary, I am really enjoying my magnaflow catback. Least drone of any exhaust system I have ever had, including the magnaflow stand alone muffler on my last XF. The standalone droned pretty loud, and was louder than the catback. The catback sounds amazing, with a nice deep tone, but it is not crazy loud. Molly says she does not even notice it because that is how the car should have sounded from the factory.
At interstate speeds, it is OEM sounding, until you jump on it...

Re: NA Exhuast options.
I suspect the Magnaflow sounds quieter in the Coupe
The loudest sound is at 2000 rpm and anything above that is fine.
I never considered my Ansa to have drone and I like the new Magnaflow even better
Re: NA Exhuast options.
Not sure if the unit is different, this is my first one, but you got a stick this time right? If it does start to drone, switch gears
