Borla Can Bite My A**
As far as the Borla cat back system...
I'm really pissed at Borla as I ordered the system last week and they said it would be delivered today. Now Borla says it is on back order and they do not know when it will be available again. Mind you, this was a pre-paid order from my parts dealer @ $649.00 and I only live a few miles from the Borla Factory... Needless to say, I went to my local muffler guy and said "F" it, order me a Magnaflow and weld the current tips on the new system.
IMO Borla can bite my *** and they just lost a new customer and hopefully the rest of you who read this post !!!!
And BTW the design my exhaust guy is building is fully dual 2.5" pipe, stainless steel Magnaflow muffler with the current OEM tips, that will cost me $150.00 less than the Borla (NON-EXISTANT) (**** ME OFF) system...

HDDP -- Sorry that happened to you! You are probably better off with your custom exhaust anyways....
Has anyone considered using the SRT-6 Exhaust? From what I understand it's revised over the stock Crossfire for more flow... plus you could keep the nice stock tips.

I put Borla headers on my Wrangler ... twice! Both sets of headers failed from broken welds after about 20k miles. I switched to Banks headers (the diesel turbo guys). There was absolutely no comparison in workmanship. Where the header fits against the manifold gasket, the Borlas showed some pretty rough machining, whereas the Banks was polished like a mirror. The welds on the Banks are a work of art. I would have to think a long time before I put a Borla on my Crossfire. Now, if only Banks would produce a cat-back for the Crossfire ...
HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY...
I Just had the Magnaflow system put on the car by Morse Exhaust Systems in Burbank, CA, sans tips for the time being. We decided that replacing the current system directly through to the Magnaflow 1-2 muffler would be way too loud (REDCROSS WILL AGREE), so we installed a "cherry bomb" baffle along the exhaust pipe, in between the flange and the muffler... It took them about 45 minutes to fabricate and install and does not have the 90 degree angle off resonator that Borla has designed.
It now has an in-line non-restrictive baffle and the exhaust note is perfect...
I would guess 15 decibles higher with a very low rumble on initial acceleration and then tones down at speed to nearly the original OEM decibles.
They are now in the process of building a custom tip which will bascically look like the two OEM tips combined side-by-side into one wide 2-1 exhaust tip to fill the entire bodywork gap and follow the shape of the cut-in on the rear fascia...
Total cost was $400.00 + $20.00 tip to their welder for doing such a great job...
Don't ask me to dyno it because I never got baseline numbers, but the owner of the shop said he would guess it will only increase HP by maybe 4-5 hp... And I think this guy would know, since he had two Lola, Formula Ford racers in the shop and a wall full of trophies...

I guess I have been lucky with BORLA because I had one on my Turbo Beetle for four years with NO problems. I didn't notice any construction defects with either setup.
Anyway I am sticking with it........................and selling the Magnaflow setup.
Christmas is only a month away...................Make your Crossfire happy............................

Without it...................too loud inside the car.
Welcome to the club of happy Magnaflow converts! Like me, I'm still very happy with my Magnaflow muffler even without the "cherry bomb" baffle. Who needs it if you have a 600+ watt subwoofer behind your back... :-)
My comment on Red Cross Borla exhaust is that the resonator seemed to impede the directflow technology for increased airflow to get more horsepower.

They also made a pretty funny comment aoubt the current OEM muffler when they pulled it off... They had never seen anything that had dual return pipes back into itself...
I'll have the car on the track at Willow Springs on Saturday and since I have run the car there nearly 20 times before the exhaust change, I should be able to tell if there is an noticable difference... Even without a BIG SUB WOOFER MASSAGING MY BACK....

I agree on the resonator restriction..............that's why the SOTP feeling is greater with my Magnaflow setup. Why didn't I think of a bigger amp????????????
WAIT !!!! This thread could get nasty fast... And that wasn't my intention with any of my posts... I was only pushed into the custom Magnaflow system because of the Borla Company screw-up... I waited nearly 10 months and repeatedly attempted to get information from them... Then after they assured me the system was finally available, on the shelf and ready for delivery, and I pre-paid an order... SHAZAM, the system disappears from their inventory... I live exactly 34 miles from the Borla factory, not like I'm on some foreign planet...
I returned to my original exhaust specialist that I consulted with in May and allowed him to build what he wanted to... I'm happy, and the car is too... And I have an extra $250.00 in my pocket...

Make sure you allow a break in period on your MagnaFlow to lower down the sound some more..maybe at least 500 miles and it will sound better. You'll notice an increase in HP with decrease low end torque when using auto transmission but use the autostick if you want your Crossfire to kick better. You'll love it and the sound of it you wouldn't want a bigger sub on your back...lol!

I am from Pittsburgh so distance i am not sure, put generic in mapquest came up around 90 miles.
I can't wait to see if we can make this happen. Thanks for your help.
I will do whatever I can to help from a distance to get this rolling.
I even had the idea of them fabricating headers too (but one thing at a time i guess)
Thanks,
Doug
