Borla Can Bite My A**
Thanks. I am off to my family for turkey day.
They told me that the car was scheduled for an exhaust they just need one for the prototyping. Once that is done they said it would be available in about 2 months.

I'm glad the guys at the shop recommended the additional "cherry bomb" straight through baffle, otherwise it may have been a touch too loud for my taste.
I also noticed it really vibrates the back of the seat... kinda like a foot massager in the wrong place
All in all, I'm pleased the the turn of events with the Borla system forced me in this direction.
PS: Automatic transmission is a bad word in my vocabulary...

Suggestion: Go out and buy a 3-4" slice of dense foam, large enough that it will nicely fit in the back floor area. Get a "special friend" to sew a complete cover for it using cloth, vinyl or leather material that would closely match your interior. The foam will buffer the sound and cut the vibration. I know, I've been there.
I don't have any sound bite from inside the car. Never thought of that.
I have a sound bite from outside in the garage. See my gallery. Because it's in the garage, it might be a little misleading, but close.

The cost for work, including tips and converters bought separately and installed on my 2nd & 3rd visit to exhaust shop was around the $400. U.S. mark.
The major cost was the exhaust pipe work (about $200.U.S.) and that cost will depend on the exhaust shop that you get to do the work. In my case, there was no special deal, in fact this was the first time I had ever dealt with them. They charged me the norm for material and labour.

Look & Sounds Great. An old buddy of mine who, owns a speed shop in NJ told me the bends on the Borla system are a problem. He says exhaust really doesn't add any horses to the engine but does allow the engine to work less thus getting more horse power, where you want it, to the wheels. So according to him the Borla system isn't much of an improvement. Your's really beats the Factory in price and most likley performance too. Love it.
Yes, your buddy is right. The less restriction you have at the exhaust end, the more efficient your engine can breathe. Same with air intake at the front end.
There is also some merit in having a tuned exhaust for certain types of racing. This is another story althogether and to get the best tuned exhaust for certain applications, you really need to dyno the engine. I used to race GoKarts (2 stroke engines) and we ran with "canned" pipe coming out back of engine. Manuafacturers would sell different design, length pipes for short sprint races or longer track enduro type races. The process is no different than changing rear axle gear ratios depending on the type of track your running.
You can imagine running a marathon race or even a sprint race and you have to wear a mask.
When you breathe in and out, your body has to work harder because of the restriction.
I was surprised when I seen the Borla system. It looks something of a Boilermans worse nightmare.
However, I think they were trying to maintain factory low-end torque specs by keeping some backpressure and of course they likely didn't want to create a system with too loud a sound. The "dual" designed system would have been a lot more expensive for them to meet their objective.
I think they are being somewhat cautious because they have to mass produce these to a mass market. However, nothing can beat a custom system designed to meet objectives of one individual.

I'm extremely happy with mine now... just need to custom make the tips next week... Will try to post a sound file later today...

It's pretty much the same as MBEPIC... SASKINS just installed his on Friday and we met out at the track yesterday... I had an additional straight thru baffle installed before the muffler because I was concerned that it would POP too much... The car sounds incredible now, but the interior noise is a bit more than I would like for long drives and will take some getting used to.
It was great on the track but a little annoying on the 1.5 hour drive on the freeway to and from the track... Be advised, my girlfriend, who had not ridden in the car since I put the Magnaflow on, said to me while we were driving to the track, "What's that buzzing sound from the rear, is something wrong?". I had to explain...
I have a DB meter and some pretty good microphones and will record the interior sound while shifting thru gears since MBEPIC already posted exterior idle and rev sounds...
As far as the increase in HP... I have no clue... I got my *** whooped by a bunch of superchaged and turbocharged japanese drifters yesterday at the track and realized for the first time how underpowered my car is...

I would say that there was very little low-end torque difference; I believe the the top end h.p. has improved but I certainly cannot measure that.
My main motive for making the conversion was for the sound difference and the theoretical improvement that should be obtained with dual exhaust over single.
MBEPIC: Having a hard time uploading any multimedia files to this site... I am on MAC... and have tried to upload .mov .avi Any suggestions... as I have the interior sound of my Magnaflow to share with the rest of the forum
