Custom Crossfire Air intake
Yes, I was a bit more outspoken than necessary............................,
but, I had rather have an item that not only is worth the money spent BUT also doesn't fit on the level of an MONO AM radio in a LEXUS FX45!!!!!

The only gain is made by removing restrictions (the air filter AND tubing) thats max gain until You can get unheated and unrestricted air into the engine. Anything below 200mph just doesn't add more than 2%. (On our engines thats 4hp) claims to the contrary are just that, claims !!! Turbo's and superchargers increase air flow by forcing air into the engine under pressure.Super duper Air filters and all the super tubing in the world won't change Flow dynamics. As much as you would like to believe it does won't change that.

The XFires intake gets VERY hot the way it sits over the engine and any improvement in cool air design would make it feel stronger.
Dan believe it or not the temp difference between underhood and out side can help if you can get it in unrestricted. Look at naturally aspirated Pro Stock drag cars, They utilise the low pressure area at the base of the windshield to pull in cooler air and actually add something like 2% HP. Remember though, they are not running ANY AIR FILTER, And they make something like 1,400HP. Also their air scoops are designed in the wind tunnel to help pull air in and aid the carbs ability to use all the available air. No matter how you try to get cooler air into our engine, you can't have a measureable affect.
Hey Danny it will produce more HP. Just based on efficience. What happens when you add the cooler less restricted air is, you'll have less detonation. Now with less detonation, your engine can burn longer and can alow a better Fuel to air ratio. I think you can probably see were I'm going with this. Better Fuel to Air ratio's means its puting out more Ponies abd Torque.

im no scientest but i can show you dynos with 8-15 peak horsepower gains with various intakes on the rsx type s if you'd like.
I agree with slight hp at wheel gain maybe 4-8,on some cars .
I'm open to trying it out to SEE and if it makes a worthwhile difference I'd buy it !But if it only makes more noise forget it.

In order to show 8 - 15 Hp gain with an air cleaner and tubing, you would need the most restrictive filter (stock that is ) imaginable. Most of the companies showing those gains do flash runs on a crank dyno. In other words, they blip the throttle and take flash readings on the results. Those gains aren't sustainable. I've been doing this a long time and my original comments stand. Saskins as usual everything you said is wrong. If your engine is detonating its ready to blow up. Thats because your timing is too far advanced or your fuel has to little octane or several other things ( none of them having to do with air filters). Adding cooler air isn't going to help. You really should learn a little before you open your mouth and swallow your foot. Your posts are actually becoming fairly amusing. I imagine that when you go out to the race track, the real racers just smile at each other and change the subject when you start talking.

.
It takes intelligence to courteously explain something - any idiot can be a ***** about it.

im talking about personal dyno's, not personal. arguments without imperical evidence are a waste of time. so here you go, http://forums.clubrsx.com/showthread.php?t=186037 , as you can see the first dyno shows 175 hp stock, then 184 with a short ram air intake, not even a cold air. i didn't even bother looking at others because i know im right.
X'ed Hobby man is a broken record, If you go back to and look in my thread about intakes, he pretty much has the same comments. Its as if he is getting his comments out of a book. Don't let him **** you off. All he wants to do is bring anybody down who is trying to do anything with intakes. He's like the kid growing up who did have friends. So in a social environment, he just doesn't know how to play nice with all the other kids. He's just an angry man inside. It's funny ususlly you would think you would want to get buddy buddy with someone who might just have something that you may want. All I know is, as soon as others have a system, and all agree that it kicks ***. He's going to be arguing with himself. I know the system that I have F***ing Rocks! And soon enough you'll be hearing it from other people as well.
im not getting pissed off by him, im just proving him wrong, something i seem to be constantly having to do on this website with people who make absurd claims without any data to back them up. i always provide data.
X'ed is right, the rsx type s does show a pretty good jump in whp from a intake. What is more amazing is what they can from a ECUM such as Hondata. Car still hanldes like a brick though. Stock rubber blows.
Also tell the 03-04 cobra owners that after market intakes don't add hp. Some cobras have seen over 20whp from just an intake.

Really, Thats kind of strange for some of the Cobra's to have HP gains , and others to not really make a difference. I've had A G-Tech for a little while now, and I've had the hardest time with it. I think the softwear needs to be updated. I actually got it from a buddy of mine at work, he has like 3 of them. The one that I'm using is not the Newest latest and greatest. It's first Gen. of last years modle. Also my Cigarette lighter is kind of wishy washy. It works when it wants to. I'll get that thing to work one way or another.
thats what im telling you saskins. all you have to do to show your right is do something. invest in a new gtech if you must, your charging 420 bucks for your intake and can probably pick up a gtech for a bill. this guy canzoomer did that over at rx8club.com and sold tons of his stage one mods, just based on the gtech alone. do a baseline run, list temp, conditions, all that, and then a run with the new intakes and all the same data. then you can just end the argument. its that easy.
