Default New K&N filter

Hi, I just installed a needswings CAI, it has a K&N filter. I'm just wondering if I need to prep it with anything right out of the box? Oil it or whatever else? Or when it's brand new it's good to go right on the intake whiteout doing anything.. Any help on this would be great.. This is my first CAI install

It's good to go right out of the box. I take mine off once a year and clean and re-oil it with the K&N recharge kit.

Perfect thanks. Just wanted to make sure.. I assumed it was oiled since it was already red looking. Have yourself a good weekend.

For what it's worth, my local M-B/Crossfire mechanic swears that K&N oil messes up the way the 320 engines run. He recommends NOT to use the K&Ns because of it. I would recommend that you Ask your own mechanic about it before using these K&N filters.

the filter is ready to go out of the box.

if someone severely OVER oils it down the road to the point that the excess oil blows off it then sure there can be issues with the MAF sensor. follow the recharger instructions and there are no issues.

I tried asking my mechanic but it got all weird - people looked at me oddly, cause I was talking to myself.

(They are used to me doing that, but they REALLY freaked out when I started an argument with myself. )

Then they don't know you very well. We are used to it.

While none of my old dirt bikes had AMG engines, they all had K&N filters. I never had a problem. K&N has been around protecting high performance engines in the challenging environment of off road desert racing since before many mechanics were born.

I would go with the manufacture's advice.
