Engine, Exhaust, Transmission and DifferentialPost questions here that have to do with the engine, cooling system, air intake, exhaust, Transmission and Differential
One afternoon my 6-speed all of sudden wouldn't go into random gears. Then there were some wheezing noises going on, but I managed to make it home. The following day it wouldn't go into any gear except reverse and there was no pull when I let off the clutch. After pushing a reset switch on the transmission it will go into all gears except reverse. To complete the adjustment the manual calls for a 'Special Tool 9120', which I cannot find ANYWHERE!
Does anyone know where I can find one?? If anything I can make one if I had the dimensions. Please help me someone, please!! .. .
Google, eBay, MB dealer or maybe some forum member has the complete tool set and can send you the dimensions. I saw the step-by-step adjustment procedure here on the forum from 180.
So, since this tool is hard to come by, does anyone have its measurements? It's simple enough, but this picture only has the photo dimensions, and if someone has one and can post the measurements here . . .
And am I crazy, or is there a graphic glitch in the illustration of how/where to insert this tool from the manual's photo? It seems to magically bend 90-degrees . . .
This is not the only error in the service manual for sure. I bet when you use the tool it'll take a few tries to see the proper location/operation of using the tool correctly to achieve the desired result. Oh, and no, I do not think the tool should 'bend' to use it properly. Good luck!
