Iys great downshifting but doesnt like manual upshifts. My wifes srt charger just gives much more control. Its like my crossfire doesnt trust my judgement. 😖

I think there’s a TCU reset. Look under the resettable features under the technical section of the forums. Maybe that’ll help

Comparing Charger and Crossfire shifting dynamics is like saying an apple doesn't taste like an orange. Matter of fact, the apple doesn't, so there is no comparison.... Can't enumerate the number of differences, so I wouldn't.

Chrysler adopted the Mercedes auto gearbox, it is probably in the Charger and so shares the basic design with the Crossfire.
My auto shifts up and down quite freely, it is self monitoring if you try to change at too high or low revs though.

I don't manually shift mine much, I let the auto be an auto. I have on occasion went ahead and manually shifted mine but didn't like it. Guess one has to do it a lot to get the best feel for the conditions? Also, I believe if you over-torque or over-rev, it protects itself as best the program allows. I doubt the handling, weight shift, suspension, program, and if the NAG1 is in both, if so I doubt it is programmed the same. I suggest you saying 'probably is more a guess than a fact. Is there anyone here who knows for a fact? BTW, there could be a mechanical problem, a fault in the TCM, or other technical/electronic problems in his crossfire.

Early Chargers used the five speed Mercedes 722.6 auto and later the seven speed 722.9 auto box.
The Crossfire uses the 722.6 auto box.

The 722.6 5 speed transmissions are designated as NAG1 transmissions in Chrysler products and were used in all Crossfires by my reckoning.

Get a TCU tune have had 3 the latest was the money shoot real manual mode will bounce off the limiters unless you hit the shifter , probably no torque management shifts are very crisp and fast ,I had speed driven eurocharged and v tech

Speedriven felt stock eurocharged is real good especially if you got a gear swap and v tech is what the transmission should've felt like from the beginning very fast and aggressive shifts and a real manual mode as well . probably has more line pressure amd more torque management taken out

Thanks everyone. I'm sure I'm not over revving. Downshifts are quick and crisp. Just doesn't like up shifting. Our charger has the same 5 speed. Charger just always does what I tell it. Maybe it's the programming. Maybe I'm just used to the hemi and shifting soon. Right now this is the fall season of new batteries. Just got one for our 64 413 wedge motor. Now the crossfire. Should prolly get one in the charger too. It's got the original. I bought the crossfire out of Reno so the first night under 45 degrees and it was dead. Point is I think the upshifts issue will wait till I get it out in the spring. I'm looking to do some more work to it anyway. Gotta find someone to work and tune it.
