Coolant light
I was on a 40 mile trip yesterday when the yellow coolant warning light came on. I checked the coolant level (after letting it cool!) and tried topping it up but couldn't get much in there. I kept an eye on the light for the trip back and noticed that it seemed to come on for about 20 seconds and then it would go off again, with random recurrences.
I've left my phone number with the Bournemouth dealers (my closest) to give me a call (which they haven't done, yet) as I'd like to know what their advice is. To my mind, the car is only 10 months old and shouldn't be experiencing a problem like this so early in it's life!
I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem and what the outcome was?

Yes, it did. I've since had the car serviced and there was a recall outstanding on it - for exactly this problem. I recommend that you get in touch with your dealer and have it done . . . for info the recall code is "E19" on the radiator fan.

I had the recall deal done years ago.
Mercedes sold Chrysler, leaving me orphaned.
My odometer hit 40k. Bye-bye warranty.
My coolant level light went on.
It overheated.
I added distilled h2o
Must've overfilled it. It steamed out some excess.
The idiot light stayed on. Diagnosis: bad sensor.
Overheated AGAIN.
Replaced fan module.
All good.
2 overheats, 3 trips to the shop, $400.
Only issue I've ever had, but it sucked.

I always thought that you could only use coolant in a car and not water because water boils and expands too quickly. At least you got to the root of the problem and made the necessary repair to get back to normal driving.

A 50/50 mix is what you want to use.
Are guys attempting to top off the coolant system with the engine turned off ? I've always found it better to let the engine cool down a bit, start it back up then top off the system.
Just my Dos Centavos !
