Default Changing the stock Infinity radio (head-unit)

Hi all

I am getting ready to swop the stock Infinity radio (head-unit) on my UK 06 Xfire. I have read all the comments regarding the "best bang for your buck" and numerous other advisory comments and they have all been invaluable, but this is a question for the selection of a UK radio unit in the UK.

1. Firstly has anyone fitted an aftermarket radio...if so when and which radio did you fit.
2. Did you notice any wiring issues. I ask as I found out that my Xfire does not match the wiring diagram schematics when I fitted a dash-camera a few years back.
3. If anybody fitted a DAB radio was it worth it and more importantly, which antenna did you use, £10.00 from Halfords or a better version from elsewhere.
4. Did you think it was worth all the effort in the end.

Many thanks
Mark

I have now purchased my replacement head unit for the Xfire. It has taken 8 months due to the covid19 lockdown here in the UK, but everything is ready to go. Does anybody want me to document the fitting of the new unit?

For the record I went for the Kenwood KMM-BT506DAB in black. There is a silver (marine version) KMR-M506DAB, but this was an extra £50 ($70) and did not include the DAB antenna £20 ($30).

Documentation is always a good thing.

There is a How To PDF already on here, it is also for a Kenwood head unit. CLICK

And it is a fantastic write-up. Things have moved on a little since that document was put together. There is no requirement to do any work with the loom/harness. The Kenwood unit comes with an adaptor harness and it is a straight plug in from the new head unit to the plug that was connected to the original stock infinity unit.

Just thought I would bring things upto date.
