Auto Light in LTD Coupe
When i activate the interior auto light, by turning on the switch, isn't the light supposed to turn on when you enter the car; and then off a short while afterwards?! Mine turns on, but takes forever to turn off. Is this normal? Can the turn-off timer be set by someone in DC's service dept? I timed the auto-light in my Mini, and it turns off after 30 sec...
Thanks for your help.

The auto light will turn off after you lock the car from the button on the key. If it stays on, you either have the lights switched to always on with the button, or there is a door open.
Which switch are you turning on? The slider switch has "O" and "--" settings. When the switch is in the "--" position, the light should come on when you open the door and then go out about 8 seconds after you close the door. In the "O" position, the lights won't come on when the door is opened. If you are turning the light on with the push button switch, the light will stay on for a long time whether the doors are closed or not. Eventually the light will turn off to keep from running down the battery.
I moved the slider switch to "--", and the light turns on when i open the door, but wont turn off... So i am guessing there is something wrong with my light switch and i will need to get it checked out then?! Has anyone had the same problem?
8 seconds is what it says in the service manual. I've never really timed mine, but I would say it is pretty close to that. I'm sure there is some variability from car to car, but if it is taking much over 30 seconds. I'd say there is probably something wrong and I would have a dealer check it out. Unfortunately they'll probably just say it's normal.
I had the exact same trouble with mine light. Turns out the latch in the rear needed to be adjusted just a smidge to make the proper contact to let the controller know that the hatch is properly shut. That is the lower latch. There is a nut on it and it moves up and down. Give that a try. Bob
The only problem I have had with the interior lights, was that it developed a short and the right side bulb would go on and off. The whole light unit was changed under warranty.

BTW I've just seen you come from CPT! Marvelous city and surrounding. I spent a week there last December. Beautiful!
In that week I spotted 5 Crossfires. One of them I pursuit through the city until my girl had the cam ready to take a pic of the nice license plate.
Greets from Zurich.
I'm quiet surprised you saw so many...there are usually very scarce in Cape Town. Mainly because they cost way too much! I glad you enjoyed your stay...Cape Town is such a nice city.

All those big expensive MB, BMW, Jags etc. I saw there ... Back to topic: your dealer found anything?
I'm taking it in in 2 weeks...I have just ordered the central console cup holder replacement compartment so i am just waiting from that to arrive from germany.
