Alright guys, my turn to get pissed. I'm trying to replace the front left low beam and all the threads and manual say just pull the electrical connect off the back of the bulb...then do the clip thing...

I can't get the connector off the back of the bulb! won't budge...i'm afraid to yank too hard on the connector as i don't want to bend that clip wire...
Any advice?

I have no problems reaching it...

Help!

Get a small mirror so you can see in there. The clip will undo easily when you can see it.

ron,

i can see the clip, the point was that you have to remove the black electric connector first, remove it, so the clip swings out of the way to remove the bulb...
i can't get the connector loose.

it won't budge.

It will come off but you have to pull very hard. I had the same problem.

I removed the clip first, then I unplugged the bulb. I was afraid of bending the wire clip out of shape.

I'm glad I found this thread so I won't have to start one. I bought some Nokya hyper white bulbs and was attempting to put them in this morning. I decided to do the drivers side first, I removed 2 things on the fender well to get better access. I first tried to pull the wire off the bulb, but it wouldn't pull off, I was doing the mirror thing and could get the clip to swing down, but I still couldn't get the connector off. So did I here somebody say it pulls off and has no clip on the connector, it's just tight as hell?

I just got finished changing my low beam bulbs and the whole operation took maybe 15-20 minutes. WHY? Because of all the previous postings on this thread. Thanks to everybody who put their hard won wisdom down in print for the rest of us.
A couple of other thoughts for non-mechanics like myself.
  1. Look at the drawings in the service manual.
  2. The retaining clip is "V" shaped and hinged at the wide end.
  3. The small end is held down by a hook on the headlight housing, push down and away to free it and swing the clip up to release the bulb.
  4. Do not squeeze the wide end or the whole damn clip will come out.

The foglights are a complete unit - you access them from small access panels behind the front bumper - right in front of the front wheels.
There are 2 type of foglight - original (chrome bit kept falling off), and the revamped ones. - do a search, there are pics of both somewhere.

Search for the service manual on this site, and all will be revealed.

Lightbulb Re: Bulb Replacement: H7?

Before I open up the left lowbeam holder to replace, want to make sure I have right bulb. It's the H7 (Sylvania is what I bought). 55 Watt designation.

Also, I'm assuming bulbs and their replacement are NOT covered under our Chrysler warranties, right?

Thanks!

Lightbulb Bulb Replacement: Module removal/access to Left Low beam

Next question. Haven't seen this addressed in the thread yet. There is an aprox. 5X4X1 inch power module in the way of the left/drivers side low beam headlamp access. It has 2 mounting studs/nuts and a large electrical connector. Is there any known problem with removing the big connector to gain access to one of the module's mounting nuts? Don't want to "reset" anything by removing the connector. This connector has 4 large #4? leads and 2 #18? leads. It is right in the way of access to the left low beam bulb comparment.

Anyone removed that module before replaceing the bulb?

Thanks!

Removed the module/connector which gave reasonable access to left low beam bulb compartment. H7 replaced and buttoned up. So far so good. If there is any feedback I'll post here. $16 dollar repair. Thankfully not HID.

I just bought an '04 CF. What fun. I noticed right headlight out of adjustment. Removed rubber cover and previous owner had lost the wire clip and held the bulb in with cardboard. Any ideas where to get a clip?

I tried to download the service manual and got an error. Any ideas.

What a great web site!!

Thank goodness for FP. One of my taillights blew the other day & I wasn't sure how I was going to fix it.
