Default Tire paint mod

Ok, So just like many of you out there, I'm always looking for something "new" to do to my Crossfire to set it apart from the rest...here's a mod I like...look at picture below.

I decided to accent the tires by painting some of the raised letters yellow. Tried a few different paints and none seem to stick to the rubber very well. The best fit I could find is Testors model paint. It will eventually chip off, but will last longer than anything I have found yet. Suggestions always welcome. You can buy it at Wal-Mart in the toy model section for 99 cents a bottle. Get a small brush too while your there and paint it on...be precise!!! Red looks good too.

I remember a company called Folia Tec that used to make an Iron on foil for this, but cannot seem to find the product anymore...anyone have any luck?

Have fun with this mod!!!

Suddenly it the 70's again. Just kidding. Actually, I was thinking about putting "Red Lines" on my Alabaster car, but they don't come in 19", just 18" and smaller, and I wanted to keep my stock wheels.

You may want to try One Shot Enamel, it's sign writers paint and is very richly pigmented and durable. Old school art supply stores carry it in small cans.

That looks like a Dunlop Tire Pen. I did that on my Prelude a few years ago... It looks real nice but doesn't last too long. I finally got tired of touching them up every week or so I scrubbed 'em back to black. If I could find a marker that would stick better I would do it again because I think it looks pretty cool.

Yes, they come in lots of different colors. The yellow you used looks exactly like the pen I have.

Stop by any motorcycle dealer and ask the parts guy to look them up for you in either the Parts Unlimited or Tucker/Rocky catalogs. They're usually special order items so they'll take a couple of days to come in and there's no returns. No worries though. They're only a few bucks and they last a L O N G time!

I wanted the same thing, Redlines for my Graphite coupe. I thought it'd look pretty kick a** ... but can't find them anywhere.
