Default Decided to Debadge

Ok, i read alot of posts not about debadging, and i think i like the idea. I heard floss, or fishing string. What's the best way to do it, just slide it behind it, do a bunch of small strokes, a few big ones? I have no clue never debadged anything. Also what's a good product i use to remove a glue, i seen goo buster and all, but anything simple local car store sure to have? Like will bug and tar remover work? Also can you remove the wings on the back, or will you have a dip there? Just wondering cause not gonna do it cause i ordered Andrews emblems. I think debadging it just for the cleaner look, and so its hard to tell what it is. I already tell people its a 2008 Concept.

Best thing to do with debadging and not worry about the glue is to get a heat gun or hair dryer to heat up the glue and then quickly take fishing line (a little more taught, it's slightly thicker than floss, and probably won't break) and pull it behind the lettering before the glue cools down.

That's how I would do it. If there's any left over, I would just use various cleaners or a scrubbie that you would use to wash your car. Just be sure once you start to take it off that you continue until all of it's off because the glue will harden and it'll be a lot harder to take off the next time you try.

That's pretty much the only way to do it other than just prying off the letters and having a bunch of glue left over. You can wait til Sunday if you want but the vast majority of DIY debadging is done with heating the glue and using fishing line.

I soaked the surrounding areas near the badges with soapy water.

then take one of those "fake" plastic credit cards they send you in the mail once in a while. and slowly slip the card in, and the badges will come off. then just clean it with soapy water or rubbing alcohol.

or use the best "glue removal".

called duct tape.

i debadge all of my cars and this is my method:

wash car thoroughly around the badging (power wash)... removing any dirt beneath the letters...

heat each letter with a blow dryer to loosen adhesive... (one at a time)...

side a piece of fishing line back-n-forth beneath the letter to loosen (do NOT pull up on letters - you will chip the paint w/ the sharp edge of the letter)... allow the fishing line to loosen the letter entirely until if falls off the hatch area.

use "goo gone" on a micro fiber towel to remove remaining adhesive... rubbing your finger back-n-forth on the adhesive will also aid in its removal.

polish the paint surface with a non-abrasive polish... then wax area.

Ok guys thanks for your input. they came off really easy, and the adhesive wasn't too hard to remove, think it took me less than 30 minutes to get everything out, do it, clean the area, and put everything away. I like it now, looks like it was never there. I am uploading pics now. Here's 2. I know the temp tags look like crap, still waiting on my hard bay tags.

Looks good. Ditch that dealer frame and get a nice chrome frame for your plate. Btw, If you put some dynamat on the back of your plate/frame you will not scratch your paint. PS. I like the "girlie" pic in your gallery best. lol.

After seeing this, I kind of like it. I'll sleep on it to see if I want to do it for mine tomorrow.
