Default The cover to my foglight fell off. Help

not the outer most plastic lens, but the shiny chrome piece the goes right in front of the bulb. it fell off, and now is loose in the foglight area. i've seen this on a XF i looked into buying. is this a common problem? what's the easiest way to put it back on. i replaced my fog light bulbs a few weeks ago and it was fine, and i notices it was loose rolling around yesterday. i know of the small door inside the wheel well, for the fog lights, but can't reach the loose part, and definitely won't be able to put it back on that way. any easy way to do it?

Take it back to the dealer...this is a warranty issue, others on the Forum have had the same problem.

Like crossfireLTD said - warranty issue.
They should replace both fog lights - they have a new design.

~ yep warrantied... this happened to mine (see pic)... the dealer just replaces the entire fog lamp assembly.

i am running aftermarket bulbs (xexon colored). i wonder if the bulb gets hotter than oem causing the cap to fall off due to the extra heat??

Mine is currently like that right now, mine isn't under warranty any more (other than powertrain), not sure if they'll fix it OR my driver-side seat heater, which is my main reason for going in. Guess we'll see.

If you do have after market bulbs in, you may want to put the original ones back in.
For 2 reasons... they may not return your original lights due to warranty claims, or, they may say the bulb is not to spec' and it got too hot and that is why the lamp failed.

I had one of mine replaced last summer because the little chrome thing fell off, just last week I had one fall off again. I just called the local dealership and there is a TSB on them, they ordered one for each side and he said they will replace both of them. But he did say something about a different trim on them, and that when they come in and they look okay he'll give me a call.
