Forced to put on a front plate
Well, I can't remember the last time I had a front license plate on my cars. Last week I came to a four way stop. A County Sheriff had the right of way, but kindly
waved me to go ahead. He then follow me and at the next stop he was side by side with me and asked me "where's your front plate". What could I say? I told him it came with out one, but that I had just ordered one.
Do you drive this way every day? He asks. This street is one I take shortly after coming out of my sub-division. Yeah OK, so he tells me he'll be watching out for me, and will give me a $75 ticket if he sees me again with out one.
I hate to do it, but I think he's one of those bull headed 'by the book' kinda cop. I hate the fact that I will have to have a plate on the front of my car. I know, I know, it's the law...but I still hate to do it. I don't care about the $75 fine, but I think this *** will keep riding me over and over.
Just venting.

FP ... get some rare earth magnets from ebay, glue them to the inside part of the bumper cover ... then glue some to the inside of your plate bracket and put some felt padding all around the edge (you can use the sticky soft velcro for this as felt pads usually only come in circle shapes and such) ... now you can have that ugly cover on when driving and take it off the rest of the time like when washing or at car meets.
i saw this on a s4 forum, they tend to agree with how ugly the plate cover is and how much uglier bolt holes in the front bumper are.

Make a pair of brackets extending from under the front to support the plate. I saw a post a wile back about this-no drillin' the front cover.
Alabama has no such law, but plenty of other backward rules...

I take my chances with out it on, I'm actually pretty surprise I've never been spoken to about it. When I first got my car I took it to get inspected and they said "Where's your front plate?" and then told me they had to put in on to give me my sticker. Little did I know that when I agreed to them doing that, it meant them taking a power drill to my front bumper and putting two more holes in it aside from there ones that were already there... I was heated. So I had my auto body guy plug the holes for me and paint over. It looks great now I just hope I don't have to put the plate on.
Yep, I think I'm going to chance it, but I Hope this cop doesn't decide to make this his mission. If so, I'll just have to find out where he's hiding, and put a big banana up his...well tail pipe.
Main reason for front plate is for law enforcement to see your info as you approach & not after your passed them. We tried to go to rear plate only here in Oh., but Hwy. Patrol stopped the movement pretty fast.

The main reason the Ohio State Gestapo lobbies so hard for a front plate is because it gives every car an excellent radar and laser "signature" (but they will never admit that's the reason).
If the Ohio Troopers ever had to do their job without all their electronic "toys" they'd be lost. They might as well be playing video games all day for all the actual skill it takes to do their job.
Sorry for the ranting, because I have nothing but the highest respect for most law enforcement. But when it comes to the OHP, and the childish highway "hide and seek" games they play all the time it makes me sick.
I drive nearly 40K miles a year, and quite often I find myself spending more time watching out for every hiding place they may be lurking, than actually paying attention to all the traffic around me. And that's not a good thing.

Ah... those laws are for suckers anyways... where I currently live we have very tight enforcement, but I have yet to see a car like ferrari, lambo with a front plate...
I have been driving without mine for over a year as that is when I purchased the car and I have been pulled over 3 times, but surprisingly no one has ever mentioned it...

well guys how about this one i have $750 bucks in fines for getting pulled over for no plate by the same cop 4 days in a row !~!~! i guess the KINGSTON NH police have nothing better to do too bad the cop tried showing off his new jeep when he pulled me over in front of the police station the other day.
any way THERE IS NOT GOING TO BE A PLATE ON THE FRONT OFF MY CAR EVER!!! and because of him touching my quarter panel every time i now have a nice decal on it that says ... I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM PUNCHING COPS THAT TOUCH MY CROSSFIRE, you just have to love the rookies trying to be all big and bad with there ticket book.
