they are held in place by push clips toward the front and by double sided tape on each strake.

use a heat gun (blow dryer) to loosen adhesive and fishing line to help break it free.

Anyone recommend chrome replacements for these? Looking around for mod options with something that shines and doesnt look like plastic.

Can the side strakes be temporary removed without breaking the plastic mounting clips? If broken clips occurs, can these clips be purchased? Squirrel Crusher

perhaps they can be removed without breaking. clip is molded as part of the strake. if it breaks, glue it back on. i use a hot glue gun. i have successfull removed the strakes for painting and repainting and reglued them.

I have removed my side strikers, painted them and reattached them without any problems. I have since removed them again. A new look forthcoming. Just use care when removing the strikers and there should be no problem affixing new ones.

Almost right....dont forget to compress the barbed clip on each strake and pop it free. The barbs are on the top and bottom. You pull the strake out from the very end and the slip something non-marring up under and push the barbs in while pulling on the strake. That should pop the clip out. Then do the next one.

Had paint work done last Sept and noticed my side strakes (front) wasnt as flush as before. Didnt mind because it looked ok still. Yesterday the bottom strake came loose because their 2 way tape came unstuck. So I embarked on a strake removal project. Thanks to all for the posts here, it helped alot.

I first noticed the strake that had come loose also had its push pin broke off. I fishlined with one hand and held the hair dryer with another. To pop the pins out I cut a plastic phonebook cover into a small strip about 1" wide and folded it (couldnt find a putty knife)

Just a little pressure on the top of the pin popps it out. Put something under the back end of the strake to keep it from poping back in the hole as you continue. Heres the hard part for me. The body shop had put 2 way tape at random locations under the black part of the strake. This required running the fish line under the strake and working it around to loosen up enogh tape so I could pull it free. I replaced the tape and glued a plastic upolstery push pin on the strake to replace the one they broke. Silicone and 2 way tape and it was back on. The reason they sit out a little to much is because they put 2 way tape in the non recessed part of the black part which caused it to sit oput just a tad.

Glad the strakes are made tough cause I was pulling kinda hard 1/2 expecting it to snap
apart

Your fenderwell is in two pieces. It's easy to remove the smaller portion that connects next to the fender. You can then put your hand behind the fender to squeeze the clips together without breaking them. Used dental floss and leather gloves to cut thru the double sided tape. It took me longer to remove the front wheel than removing the partial fenderwell and strakes. Squirrel Crusher

I know the first page answers the question but I'm afraid of breaking the clips
Can someone maybe do a video on how to remove them ?
Also do they stay in place without any double sided tape ? Or should I get some 3m before removing them ?
