Default New Windshield?

Hi all,

Coming back from the dealer (Oliver C. Joseph in Belleville, IL) today I caught a rock in the windshield.

Small star-shaped crack at first - within a minute had expanded to a three inch crack.

Quoted $351.00 for replacement by local glass company (glad they had one in stock)

Anyone had any experience with relacing a xfire windshield yet?

Thanks

Kevin

Not in the Crossfire - but I did learn to only use "factory" glass. I had a cheaper windsheild put in a Jeep and it was the worst glass. In no time the glass was pitted and hazy.
Hope you got a quality piece. Maybe I just got a bad one.
.......ooooo Murphy....that can't be good.

I tried replacing my windshield on my own.

I cut a piece of cardboard, the visibility was just too low and ended up going to the dealer, around $400 I could see again.

I replaced my windshield... I took it to Henderson Glass (a local chain glass place).. although it was covered under insurance with a 250$ deductible.. the glass is fine & I notice no difference between the new & old.

Do they have to remove the silver trim around the windshield glass in order to replace the windshield? I am asking because there was a thread in this forum about the silver trim around the windshield just flying off at freeway speed and the cost to replace those trim pieces is around $300.

Calxfire,

I did not watch the tech do the replacement

If they did have to remove - they did a great job because I cannot tell any difference after

The windshield is exactly like the OEM

YES THEY HAVE TO REMOVE THE TRIM. And no it has not flown off even at 150 mph.

I had the windshield replaced in my daughter's SRT before I bought it. They charged the body shop $250. So the $350 charge is in line.
