So I recently put on some lamin-x lens film on the major lights of the car. I am now down to the directionals. As Lamin-x doesn't make pre-cut film for the directionals, I bought a sheet and need to it to match the shape of the the lens. I would prefer not to do this with the directionals still on the car. Since I am still fairly new to the ins and outs of this vehicle, can anyone tell me how to remove the front and rear directionals to the car?

My second questions is just something I am currently thinking about. I'm currently contemplating removing the "crossfire" badge on the rear of the car. How are the letters held to the car? Are they just glued on or are there plastic posts that go into holes in the body? Does anyone have any pictures of what a badgeless crossfire looks like?

Any help would be appreciated!

 

Just push the covers a bit on the side either left or right and they pop right out, real easy!

 

I use the corner of a credit card to pop the side marker lights out. They are held in by a small spring clip.

The rear lettering is stick-on and can be removed by using a heat gun (hair dryer) and a length of fishing line. Soften the double sided tape a bit with heat, and use the fishing line as a garrote to slice the tape from the side. You will be left with a little adhesive on the paint and remove it with WD40 or anything that won't damage the paint.

When you are all finished, I think there are some folks here that will buy the letters from you. If the price is reasonable!

Thanks for the help guys! I hope to get the directionals taken care of this weekend. I opted for yellow tinted fog film, which I think looks really good on a black car. But the orange directionals look almost yellow, so I look forward to darkening them a little and hopefully allowing the fogs to be a little more noticable.

Max--I like the badgeless look on your roadster. It looks real clean. if I had your car, I'd probably take the letters off. I hope that it looks as good on the coupes, but it's hard to tell since the rear is a little different between the two. I'll check out the gallery. Do you know off the top of your head which galleries I should be looking at? There are LOTS of pics on this site!

Just be careful of sun discoloration of the paint. Try removing only one letter first, and if the paint has not fainted, go ahead and remove the rest.

 

Good call! I'd be mighty disappointed if the paint color differed since the car isn't even a year old! And I think it sat under a car port at the dealer for most of it's pre-ownership life. But I will look into that! I just polished and sealed the car for the first time a couple of weeks ago, so I;m hoping everything is ok.
