Default Full paint job??

Has anyone done a full paint job on a xfire before? I have been toying around the idea of repainting mine, but I need to know how much paint it would take to do a full paint job, I am probably just going to do one color. I just need to know like I said, how much it would take, so I can get a price, then I will try to convince my wife to let me do it! Thanks in advance.

Right off the top of my head the only one I can think of is:
Message - CrossfireForum.org Gallery
But he hasn't been around in quite some time.
Forum Members, Stryfox, or Moparrbust both could probably give you a realistic figure on how much paint you would need, and what other materials you will need to do the job correctly. Good Luck

To do a quality color change(including tearing the complete car apart to paint the jambs and underhood) would cost more than the car's worth.............it'd be cheaper/easier just to sell your car and buy one the color you want.

On the flip side of the coin you can take the car to Maaco and have a complete(outside only) LOW quality paintjob for $400.

The only thing is that they dont make them in the color I want, I was just trying to find out how much paint it would take, I would to the work myself.

$100 of Rustoleum did the trick here, got to watch for the orange peel effect as its tough to buff out. But if you choose an orange color it would look OK I guess. No one could say you drove a lemon then.

all colors are not created equal...I am assuming you are talking a two stage base clear.
Some colors cover good in 3 coats with the correct color under coat, some can take 10 or more especially if you get fancy.
Jams and engine bays suck up lots of paint due to the amount of angles and surface area.

Without specific info and doing a sprayout calculating the amount of basecoat is hard.
some base coats can run upwards of $200 a pint
I would assume you would need about 6qt of mixed clear to do the exterior.
A good custom shop the price would start at at least 5,000 to paint it. again it depends on color, effects, jams, engine bay, and expected quality. You can easily spend 30k on a full custom show quality paint job....
hope this helps.

never realized what it costs, since I haven't painted a car to this detail since 1975...blocked a '74 Corvette...took 4 months to get it right...painted it a cadilac firemist brown with gold flakes...brown leather t-tops...fiberglass front and rear bumpers...quite a task...4 months later was hit broadside by a drunk....bummer...never had the urge to do it again...

It is hard to explain to people why it costs so much for a "show" paint job
Take your example figure $69 an hour plus 4k for materials.
