Flicker? Tryhooking directly to the battery and see if the lights are snafu or the wiring is the issue.

Gap in the middle may be that they are not the correct replacements or they are NOT SEATED fully. This happens to most newbees on their first try with the crossfire headlights CAUSE THE ARE HARD TO REACH.

Enjoy, Woody

I have the same problem.

Heres the solution/what causes the problem.

The HID ballasts have very little resistance. The CANBUS system look for that resistance and when it cant find it, it pulses current and voltage hunting for it. This causes the bulb to stay in a warm up stage, since the ballast doesnt have steady voltage to light the bulb off. If you dont fix it, the ballast will eventually fail

you need these
HID Kits, BMW Aftermarket Bumpers & Lighting, DEPO - DDM Tuning

I've found these guys to have the best prices and quality, as they own the factory that makes the HIDs

to the above poster that sounds correct as i know i did everything right and i now i realized that a relay or something of some sort was needed is there anyway to get these to work flawlessly without the above item?

no, the CANBUS system looks for resistance to make sure the bulb is there. When it doesnt see that resistance is within an acceptable range, it starts pulsing current to see if it can find it. This hunting for the right value causes the ballast to go into a warm up cycle that just repeats itself.

Without a load resistor and capacitor setup it wont work.

Its funny i ran into the same exact problem today! Mine were flickering and then would eventually just go out. That makes sense about the resistors. So if i buy 4 of those kits listed, then the car hid lights will not flicker at all when turned on??

Thanks!

20 dollars buys you a pair, 3 pairs if you have hids for highs, lows, and fogs

Have you ever heard of someone buying the 4700uf 35V capacitor from radioshack? I think it runs about 4 bucks and it is supposed to have the same result just much cheaper. I might give it a try tomorrow and let you guys know how it turns out.

Tried it, i've gone up to almost 1 farad on each ballast... doesnt help on our cars, needs a load resistor as well

I bought the Cheap HID kit from Ebay and haven't had any issues.
Shipped to my door (In Canada) for $47.00 USD, and for the Slim Ballasts $53.00.

Then its a voltage issue, you need to run the voltage source to the lights directly off of the battery with a relay.
