Here is the US, a complete color change like that, done right, would run you $6,000 - $8,000. If you had the car completely stripped, prepped and ready to shoot, you could find a good painter who'd do it for $2,000.

My question is - if you're willing to take the car apart yourself, why not shoot the paint yourself?
I can spend as much as it is needed to get it done nicely. And I guess even though I like art and design that my ability in the paintshop is not good enough. You save about 75% of the price if you take the car apart yourself. Being in finance I rather put the 75% cash invested in APPLE ;D

Just my 2 cents. I have been a auto body and mechanic for the last 20 years, that being said I admire anyone with he fortitude to start a project like a color change on the crossfire. The amount of time needed to make it a flawless job is mind blowing. I myself would not undertake a project like this one unless I were going to show it and make it a trailer queen. So that being said I wish you all the best and please post pics of the work and completion so we all know the process you went through.

Hi, thanks for the heads up and the 0.02$
What is time consuming for the actual painter?
I have discussed with many people who have done it before and they say that 3 FULL days will do for the stripping of parts. Then how long the painter will take I don't know. Of course it is not a simple "mod" but if both I and the painter put down time and heart to it the result should ome out right. Nevertheless, I have been looking at pictures of the ero blue and it is really building up on me- especially with all the white snow around. It will be a good contrast.

But hey, you being the specialist, what is it that makes you find it so time consuming and difficult to make flawless? Enlighten me Might help me in my decision..

I have a close friend restoring a '70 Dodge 440 R/T. He is at the stage where all the metal work is now done, and all the parts are painted. In order to make the color change, all the fenders, hood, doors, inner fenders, bumpers, motor, wiring, mirrors, trim, headliner, windows have been removed in order to paint every little bit of this car. His interior was all out for rust repair, but you would have to do the same as to paint the outer floor pans...he did this all himself except for actual painting of the car, which he brought in an expert painter. The estimate by the painter if he had done this car, was over $10k... I quess if you want to do it right, you would do all this at whatever the cost is. In his process, fasteners, bolts, washers, some trim pieces were broken or lost, so he had to buy new...so you have take that into account...things break when taking them apart...big project FUBU...and I love my aero blue coupe...hopefully yours will grow on you....good luck...

That's the point I was trying to make. A color change done properly is not a simple process. Everyone seems to think you just take off a few parts and squirt the color and wala your done.

Wouldn't that make the site multi-lingual instead of bi-lingual?

I don't care what they drive.

Jessica Alba? Maybe *the* hottest chick in the history of the world. I'd do her again.
