Default What kind of shop could make louvers?

I want to add side window louvers to my Crossfire..similar to the single vent Mustang side window louvers:

What kind of shop would I be looking for to do custom work? Would a regular body shop be able to craft something like that?

Is anyone interested in undertaking this project? Or would anyone be interested in buying a set if I found someone to make them?

Lemme know what you guys think.

(I don't care about the blind spot aspect, fyi)

Thanks,

Eric

I'm in Orange County so i'll have to ask around some more.

I'd definitely go for fiberglass over metal.

Thanks for the reply.

Eric

I think that you should find many ideas about size, style material etc at the following site.

I have bought a lot of bike parts out of that area...you should have one in your back yard somewhere...just ask around, especially anywhere there are custom car shows or cruise in's.....good luck with it..

Wait... that's what people meant by louvers?! I can make those lol... I just have no time lately . A good body shop should be able to make them, I'd try one that specializes in Vettes. If I get around to it I'll make a set (along with the million other things I want to do). How would you mount it though? It seems like you would need to remove all the weatherstripping and glass for it to look right.

It's going to look alot like a mustang with louvers.. I'm trying to come up with something that looks good, but check out what it looks like without the back window.. weird

Thanks for all of the reply's, guys.

I'll check some of the local body shops when I get a chance.

I agree with the removal of the weatherstripping for it to look right part, however, if I could incorporate some rubber onto the bottom of the louver to fit in the gaps left by the weatherstripping, do you think that would function the same?

Without the back window it does look weird, I agree... but with the "vent" styling on the louver like in the picture (especially if there was one in the back as well), I think it would look nice.

Thanks,

Eric

FWIW, I think the Mustang louver doesn't fit the lines, but filling in the window as above looks good-different, but not in a bad way at all.

West Coast Customs sent me an e-mail that essentially told me to go pound sand.

haha... on to the next one!

I think fiberglass would be easier, you just need to make a plug out of the hard pink foam used in insulation.. The hardest part would be getting both sides to look the same.
