Emblem Removal
Hi all,
After searching many threads I was not able to find a step by step process for removing to Chrysler wings emblems.
I'm just trying to take them off, so I can prep/paint them. I tried using a heat gun and fishing line on the front, but got stuck because I couldn't figure out how to pull out the metal plug things that hold the emblem in place. Is there a special way to get these out, without breaking them off? (Because I want to replace the emblem when I am done painting it)
And for the rear emblem... are there any hidden mounting plugs? Or can I just use fishing line and the heat gun all the way?
Thanks,
Eric

The front one has rivet like tabs on the back, you may be able to remove them from the back when the hood is popped, not sure, never tried. PM MadMed with the CF hoods, he has taken his off, and must know how.
On the rear, you are correct, no tabs there, just heat, use some non-wax dental floss or low test fishing line, followed by some 3M wax and adhesive remover, and followup with some proper polishing, if you intend to leave it off....
Hope this helps.

Yeah when the hood is popped I can see the rivet like tabs on the underside of the hood. Just don't know how to release them without breaking them off.
And don't worry, the emblems are going back on as soon as I paint them.
I have had my car disassembled to bare skin. By myself
So ask me anything if needed.
The emblem in front, just peel those rings off. Always use soft plastic tool. Use hairdryer or heatgun while bending loose simultaneously.

Or do the "teeth" come off of the emblem? Thanks for the help, clearly you can see how confused I am.
I'm like.

This is a 12 year old thread, not much chance of an answer.
Just about anything you need to know can be found in a Google search or in this link.

Yes, you are right. My mistake was not using the correct terminology. Do a Google search on "Fender Badge" and you will not find this link. Do the same with strakes and you will. I did not know they were called that. Now I do. That you again.
The video in a previous post is also very good. Everyone refers to the side emblem as 'strakes'. But the Service Manual refers to them as a 'side louver''.
