Question Shaving the emblem?

How is the emblem and lettering shaved off of the boot of the car? I thought that they were drilled/screwed in. Or are they just applied and glued on?

They are glued on with 3M adhesive. You can use a fishing string with up and down smooth strokes to take them off. I think Andrew suggested that by applying some Goo-Gone first, they come off easier.
Just make sure you polish and wax the area after you've completed the job.

"F I S H I N G" string as in fishing line. Its stronger than most ordinary string. You can heat the area with a blow dryer too but mine popped right off with little effort and no heat.

Cool, and thank you. I just got home and it's been a long day of work. I guess I read it wrong. I need a drink.

you can twist off the lettering with your fingers, then rub off the adhesive with mineral spirits.

~ i debadge all of my cars and this is my proven method:

wash car thoroughly around the badging (power wash)... removing any dirt beneath the letters...

heat each letter with a blow dryer to loosen adhesive... (one at a time)...

side a piece of fishing line back-n-forth beneath the letter to loosen (do NOT pull up on letters - you will chip the paint w/ the sharp edge of the letter)... allow the fishing line to loosen the letter entirely until if falls off the hatch area.

use "goo gone" on a micro fiber towel to remove remaining adhesive... rubbing your finger back-n-forth on the adhesive will also aid in its removal.

polish the paint surface with a non-abrasive polish... then wax area.

after you pop off the crossfire letters, you should pop out that Chrysler emblem and fit in a Bentley logo. lol.

I used DENTAL FLOSS. Everyone should have some. Takes about 10 seconds to complete the job.
