Default HID Beam Gap

Ok, So i've had HID's for a while now, probably about 5 months, ive changed the bulbs quite a bit due to me not deciding on what color I like. I finally picked 5,000K. There is a gap in the beams, but when I turn the fog lights on the beam is filled. The HID System I have is not cheap what so ever. I bought it at a local dealer here in Memphis, I've had this problem but just now got around to posting the problem. I know im going to get that the bulb is not seated properly, but IT IS, 100% positive, checked it cant tell you how many times. Thanks and please give me your help! Merry Christmas!!!

I did forget to mention that I do not have the bulbs that came with the kit in, they are from eBay, just the bulbs. Could that be it?

Are you talking about a dark line projecting from the front under each bulb/side?

We have decided that it is the shadow of the bulb support...

No, There is a big gap in the beam of the light that is shined on the ground. There is light on the sides of it, but in that gap there is no light what so ever.

I'm pretty sure that it is the support post inside the bulbs.

I was looking at another members HID setup and his headlamps did not do what mine are doing. It lit up the whole ground and there was no dark spots what so ever.

I read your first post and assumed that there was a gap between the two beams from the two bulbs. If it was the post in each bulb then I assumed you would have two gaps in the beams.

Possibly they were adjusted horizontally by a previous owner. It can be done and is explained in a post by James1549.

Please confirm that it is a gap between the two beams.

No. It's in each beam, there is no gap in between the beams, there is a single gap in each beam. I will try to get a picture up when it gets dark.

That is the post in each bulb casting a shadow as has been mentioned previously. That is par for the course.

This is the gap shown by my old driver side bulb. The light is shining on a white wall board 2' in front of the headlights.
The yellowish ball is the high beam.

YUP mine is the same way.
I have never seen one without the shadow in the middle of each light beam

There is a picture of a crossfire with a Morimoto HID Kit, with no shadow under the bulb.

Perhaps you should contact the person that took the picture?

My Morimotro low beam HID's from The Retrofit Source also show NO gaps whatsoever ....

As OneHundred80 once said, "you get what you pay for" ......

( although I got lucky and the Morimoto's were on sale at $25 off, so mine were only $100 )

Here is a hint to all considering installing HIDs : REMOVE BOTH HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES

makes it one heck of a lot easier to remove and re-attach the bulb clips which is necessary to install the HID bulbs, also makes it easier to insure the bulbs are properly seated.
One other advantage is that you can then mount the ballasts under the headlights on the metal frame and get better heat sinking, as well as having them out of sight.
