Anyone make a mesh grill w/no border??
Let me know if you want me to show you how to make it flush
Here is the grill that everybody hates. I agree that the border is to large but I added a spine to at least break up that large mesh. If anyone has the tools, the fix is simple. replace the mesh with a larger mesh and grind down the border from the inside not the outside. That way the mesh is larger but the border gets smaller.

Not sure about that, but be prepared to drill your bumper cover if you purchase this grille - just a heads up.
Max is right, I am the friend
Upcomer, in order to get that look to be perfect, you must cut off the lip on the OEM bumper that holds the OEM grille into place. This is what they mean by unfinished, mine was the same way, but I still liked the look.
A little bit tighter mesh, but you get the idea...

I don't like the wide borders either, and frankly I don't like most mesh, but some of it if done properly looks really good. I do like the billet grills though.
Well, Max and you made that look very professional indeed. The wide border in Black only looks great on a black XF; IMO.
Well I have had my fat bordered metal mesh grille at my friend's metal shop for the last few weeks trying to figure out what to do with it. I am thinking of reducing the border significantly and welding vertical SS bars, trying something different, thoughts?
Thanks for the response. This one isn't really screaming at me to buy and install, but I'm with the others regarding not liking the wide border one. I just know that the factory grille is looking real stale for me right now. If I was 19 or 20, I would just plastidip it and think it was real cool.

Did someone say custom mesh grill? It's not a Crossfire strictly speaking, but I made a custom mesh grill for my SLK32 AMG with black powder coated grill mesh from customcargrills.com and I am pretty happy with how it came out:
