Keep fogs on when high beams on?
Before people start yelling about the law I am aware you are only allowed to have 4 forward facing lamps lit at one time.
Here is what I would like to do.
I would like the fog lamps to stay on when the high beams are turned on.
There must be a power or ground that is sent to the fog lamps when the high beams are turned on to switch the fogs off.
Anyone have a diagram or info on this?
Thanks for any input.

In the USA I am pretty sure. That is why the fogs turn off when the high beams go on.
At least that is what I learned back in 1993 ish when I got my Pennsylvania state inspection license.

Ok, I just read pa Code 175.66 online.
It is diffrent than the old printed copy I have.
Dam you need a layer to red this stuff now. Hahaha
Anyway, not really interested in the legal aspect.
I really just want the fog lamps to stay lit with the high beams on.

So hook them up and go, Your not trying to hook them to the light are you?? Just use a relay, two exactly. One on high one on low both in parallel. wHEN LIGHTS ARE OFF, FOGS ARE OFF.
Durn cats
This will not overload the light circuits and still does your deal with relays and a fuse of course. Woody
BTW it would be good to go to the HID's as thats more light and Id suggest 55w HIDs for the low beams , the HIDS are slow to start and makes flashing the hi's difficult. WW

I have hid in the lows.
I could run some relays, that would work.
I am assuming when you turn on the highs it drops a ground or a hot for the fog relay.
If I had a diagram I might just be able to disconnect it or bypass it and not have to run any new relays.

I have 3 million miles on the road....and unless this is just for looks, you get nothing from it... And, if you really wanted to do this, you could go to a dedicated switch as well.
The fogs are controlled by the ICM ( Illumination Control Module -ie, the light switch assembly ).
Pin 20 supplies 12v for the left fog, pin 21 for the right ( LHD models ).
There is no internal wiring schematic for the LCM to my knowledge.

JMO : Get rid of the HID's in the lows and replace with the Osram 65W "off road' bulbs that were posted here about 6 months ago. Greater light, farther throw and no-one has given me their high beams thinking I have mine on. Cheap mod and well worth it.
I guess I'll put them in, I never did like the HID's and never installed them in this car.
I was waiting for a guinea pig.
I pm'd you on your opinion on these bulbs a few weeks ago, so you like them I guess. I have had some (4 of them) for way over a year now, I got them after reading about them, I posted the material 18 months ago. I got another 10 cheapos from China or wherever. I should be good for a while.

I guess this is an old thread, but I'm looking to do the opposite of this.
So far, I've done what stevedask advised in this thread (which turns the fogs on when the ignition starts). The only problem now is getting the fogs to turn off when the high-beams are on.
Anyone have any ideas?
