Default little red light near headlight controls

Ok, so I have a little red bulb that is constantly illuminated, even when car is off with keys out. It is to the right and below where the headlight ****. My brake lights are costantly on when the keys are in the run and start position. also my cruise control is out but the bad esp light came on once but went away after i turned off and restarted the car on. What does the light mean and what do I need to do to get it fixed?

sounds like definite electrical bugs. there are links on the forum to an owners manual so that you can look up the instrument cluster descriptions. I can't tell from your description where the light is.

The light is down by the light switch not on the instrument panel. I can't find anything on it in the manual. I'll post a picture when I get home from school

The light isn't on the instrument panel but near the headlight switch below the steering wheel and to the left. I'll post a pic when I get home from school

Is this a new (to you) car ? My first thought is a poorly installed security system but does sound aftermarket.

According to the owners manual, that is the "fog lights on" indicator.
( Mine doesn't light up )

Thats the hard part. The light is to the right of the switch. The fog lamp indicator is to the left. What my problem is that the light isn't even in the picture

It doesn't sound like anything stock. Take off the cover where the fuses are then you can easily pop out the vent and light switch surround. Might give you an idea on where to trace the wire that's illuminating the light.

No I've had it for around 2 years but the car did come with a different type of alarm key. I didn't have a security system installed but now I'm thinking it might have been before I owned it

NOT OEM. Someone installed that, I'd suggest pulling the cover and tracing the wires.

Check with the former owner to see if they put an alarm system on it.

Bought the car from a pre-owned dealer and they never mentioned it. It came with a key fob for a alarm system and the alarm went out and i though it had was fixed but if the alarm is set off the car just blinks. So Im betting it is the alarm system. hopefully. Gonna see what Fuze it's attached to after work so hopefully I don't have to take it to a shop

Josh, don't touch it! Its a top secret device that needs to be properly deactivated. The only person cleared to tackle this type of system, is me. I'll require you to sign the vehicle over to me for about 25 years. After that time period, it'll be OK and I'll return it to you without it being any more of a problem. Trust me, I'll treat you right and that dealer has already been arrested for selling highly classified systems to the wrong person. He was paid to release it only to me for no charge, as I was supposed to use it for an extremely delicate situation that cannot be discussed.

JK! Its something that's been added, as others have said. This is exactly why I try to remind people that when they modify a vehicle, that they either return it to OEM, OR include all documentation for whatever was added. It is especially important when an electrical system is 'modified' to fit a comfort of the owner, as in the seatbelt chime wiring hack job. I hope you can successfully fix it to work, or remove it to allow the car to work as intended. Good luck!

Radio Shack used to sell a little red flashing LEd you could install with a plastic bracket under the dash or drill a hole in the dash to make it appear you had a security system. All it did was flash day and night. It was just hard wired to your fuse box. This might be a similar product but does not flash.

You'll also notice another lens for a light below the Fog Light indicator. That's supposed to be for the Rear Fog Light.
That's why the headlight switch pulls out to a second click, not just a first click for the fog lights up front.
