How to Secure Courtesy - Dome - Map Interior Bulb in a Broken Board
One of my courtesy bulbs was dimmer than the other, so when I went to replace both with LEDs I discovered that somehow, some time in the past I had broken part of the plastic board that holds the bulb. The bulb was loose. Ugh.
Re: How to Secure Courtesy - Dome - Map Interior Bulb in a Broken Board
ala_xfire,
Okay my drivers side map light is exhibiting all the standard problems cited in the various relevant thread(s). Purchased a hot glue gun and am ready to repair. What specifically gets glued on the fixture. Last thing I need is to go in and apply glue to areas it doesn't need to be applied to. My understanding (feeble as it is) is that the metal run to the socket needs to be glued down. Correct ??
Re: How to Secure Courtesy - Dome - Map Interior Bulb in a Broken Board
Correct. The metal runs separate from the board, use the hot glue liberally EXCEPT where the bulb sockets make contact.
Hold pressure on the runs against the board while applying.

Ala, Waldig,
Many thanks for the feedback !! As the map light fixture is a subassembly of the $2200.00+ Home Link Module and NOT available separately I NEEDED input on what gets glued before turning the fixture into a completely inoperable wad of glue.

Ala,
One additional "Oh by the way". Approximately how long will it take for the glue to set to the point I no longer need to apply pressure to the metal run/contact ?? Thanks again !
Tim

Nice solution, but in my situation I had broken off one of the plastic lips that lock the bulb socket to the board, so glue by itself would not have solved the problem.
