map lights
Hi,
I am new to the Forum. I have 2 Crossfires a 2005 limited convertible and a 2005 black SRT Coupe.
Both interior map lights do not light up on the left side. The dealer told me the map light
fixture has a short and there are no replacement units available.
Is there anyone that knows where to buy one ?
Does anyone know of someone that can repair them ?
Thanks ,
Clockman from Phoenix

Clockman,
You can find replacement units on ebay selling anywhere from around $60 up to $120. If you are mechanical you can pull the unit out easily enough and check the bulbs first. It only takes a small screwdriver or credit card to pop the lens off, then a small torx screwdriver to remove the unit from the frame, two screws. Once that is out, the bulb turns from the top and can be easily replaced.
Good luck

Dont buy one just remove the lens and take the light out , its held in with 2 screws. You will see the problem is the metal traces /bars have come away from the plastic nubs that retain them .
I used a hot ish soldering iron to melt the little tiny plastic nubs /pins back gently down over the metal part and it has worked fine since .
Good Luck.

Weclome clockman! A 'short' would be blowing fuses, I would heed the widely announced fact of NEVER going to a dealership (mostly called stealerships in the forum). Suggest you start downloading some of the documents like the service manual, owners manual, and various .pdf DIY documents here in the forum. You'll need a decent set of TORX tools for many of the things you can fix for a pittance of what a garage/stealership would charge. Have FUN!
