lighting upgrade
Hello,
From what I've been able to piece together, it seems like HID is still the superior option to LEDS.
And Kensun was highly recommended. However they are our of stock of everything except blue or purple
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Michael

I have Morimoto 2Stroke 3.0 LED bulbs in the headlamps and HIDs in aftermarket (eBay/Crossfire specific) projector fog lamps. The LEDs are surprisingly good. Way better than I had anticipated. They are nearly as bright as the HIDs, with no associated delays. I run 4300k fogs, and I think these LEDs are only available at 5000k (I could be wrong). At any rate, they are not at all blue/purple. Updates the look of the car tremendously, while working far better than the original halogens. All that being said, you will want to remove the headlamps from the car to install, as there are a real PITA to install in the housings. You will also need to get creative with the rubber dust cap at the rear, as the LED body in larger/longer. I used some caps from theretrofitsource.com and made it work neatly. Lastly, the 2Stroke LED 'tip' is too large in diameter to fit easily into the headlamp low beam side. Something about the way Valeo made the housing. Anyway, I took the 2Stroke to my bench grinder, and just cleaned it up a tad, and it fit in fine. They have been in there, operating perfectly for well over a year.
I have their 35w kit in 6000K in the low beams and they’re plenty bright with a solid beam pattern. Just letting you know if the 35W is an option still.
The conversion to HID is also illegal, not that you will likely get stopped unless they are set to high. This is covered by the “Off road use only” clause in the paperwork.
My son went HID on the low beams and LED on the high beams. Rationale was the warm up time on the high beams. He's happy. His are not any brighter than my all LED solution.
