Default Wheel Wells

Okay, this was just brought to light on the other forum...are your wheel wells body colored or black??? Is there a difference between '04s & '05s; coupes & roadsters??? I have an '05 coupe and they are all black.

edited: Guess I should have posted this under technical...Andrew, feel free to move it if necessary.

Mine are the same color as my wheels. Mines an '05 limited coupe.
Have you tried cleaning them, maybe thats just brake dust?

Not brake dust...wheel wells get washed every time the car gets washed. As I said, there are differences (obviously)...just trying to figure it out.

Sorry I was just joking with the brake dust comment. I've seen your name around this forum often enough to know that your not an idiot. But it is interesting though, that your wheels are painted black on the inside of the wheel. I'll have to try to take notice next time I see another crossfire.

Guess I'm learning the hard way that with the newer folks on this forum, it is better to keep it to yourself. Please disregard the question. If I could delete it, I would.

Hey guys. He is talking about the WHEEL WELLS, not the backside of the wheels. It's the big hole in the body you wil see if you take the wheel off the car!

It was a poor attempt a humor. Perhaps if I had used one of those goofy smiley faces it would have been seen as such. I have seen your name around for awhile and do not consider you a new guy. Not that it would have mattered.

black danimal just like yours and they get washed everytime the car does. I also do the backs of the wheels. Small hands can get in small places.

Maybe I should have explained it a little better. I know that it has been reported that some of the '04 alabaster coupes and the '05 yellow roadsters are body-colored behind the wheels in the wheel well area. Mine is an '05 SSB coupe and it is solid black in the wheel wells and hasn't been painted or undercoated (unless it came from the factory that way). I was just guessing that maybe it could be another difference between the '04 and '05 coupes, and the coupes and the roadsters, or who knows, maybe color specific. Just curious is all.

I have a 2004 Alabaster Coupe and the wheel wells are body color. This struck me as odd when I was buying as even my 2003 Ford Focus had black splash guards in the wheel wells.

Thanks Simon & Blade. From what I have gathered between sites, the '04 wells are body colored and the '05 coupe wells are solid black while the roadsters are body colored. Now I'm wondering if that holds true for the SRTs?

Perhaps Karmann decided to start saving a few $$ after '04 by not using the expensive pearl/metallic on the underbody.

Or since the front tires can rub on a hard turn back out the driveway, as my dealer said that's normal. I could tell it was rubbing by the paint off my inside wheel well. If its painted black it won't show.

I would have preferred some factory splash guards in the wheel wells as opposed to painting them body color (it really stands out on a white car).

danimal,
The wheel wells in my 2005 SRT-6 are black and not body-colored. Sounds like another DIY project in the making.

P.S. It was great meeting you last week at the Orlando GTG. Maybe next time we can get in a couple of 1/4 mile runs.
