In Nassau County, New York (long Island), went to work yesterday, $3.39 / gallon, came home from work $3.45 / gallon (93 octane).
Record oil company profits, no new refineries built in the past 30 years, and NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT!! This is BULL****.

Canada got the 50c a gallon last week Just before our Victoria Long weekend.
Regular gas is about $4.50 US a gallon, in Alberta we dig it out of the ground and ship it south of the 49th,. Big Oil gives then takes it away.

We are $3.50 for premium here. It cheaper to drive the Crossfire then buy the cheap stuff for the RAM. In fact looking and replacing the Ram with a Wrangler because of the mileage.

Heck, I need all the protection I can get! I'm only 4'11 in heels!
lol... Remember FP?? LOL.
Memorial Day weekend coming up...they had to jack the prices up for that!!! Just wait and see what they do for 4th of July!!! Would anyone like to donate for my trip up to Carlisle ???
Well Maxwell, I see we need a refresher course in free enterprise 101. Profit is good. Without profit, there would be no investment, no business, no employment, and no tax revenue. Do you own stock and expect profit? The last time I checked, big oil was only making 9% profit. If my business only made 9% profit, it would be shut down and the capital would be invested in more profitable opportunities.
Maybe we should look at the vocal minority green extremists and spaghetti spined politicians who have not allowed a refinery to be built in over 25 years, or drill in a 12 square mile area of Alaska, or level heavy taxes on each gallon we purchase, to name a few. Environmental extremism is simply the old socialism.
I think I will go out and put some of that great premium fuel in my Crossfire. I will not even look at how much it costs, because I do not care, it just goes on my Visa. Then I will go out, in that direction, and see what is out there and have fun driving just for fun’s sake. Is this a great country or what?

instead of building new refineries or allowing the destruction of the alaska ... perhaps its time to really invest into alternative energy sources ? ones that do not require destroying the world we live in ...
if we did that 25 years ago ... we would not have a problem today ... but look at what they did to the turbine cars in the 60's and the electrics in late 90's ... its pretty obvious the powers at large want things to stay as they are.

Just going to ask a silly question, but what's 9% of say Exxon Mobil's 88.57 billion??? hmmm that's what 7.6 billion??? and that's for a QUARTER It's called a commodity , you make money in commodity markets by selling in VOLUME. DO the math, if all things were held equal (ie, your sales are the same, your cost are the same) but the ONLY thing that increased was the cost of crude, how could you make more money? It's a scam guys, figure with those HUGE numbers they're making (the IC industry for example only makes about 11% AT BEST margins so 9% is actually GOOD in the production business) Exxon still gets a 2.6 billion dollar subsidy!!! And that's just Exxon... Insane, just insane... do a search on Google for 'Record Oil Profit' and watch, everything dates back to '05... very very little INFO out there... i'm not some nut conspiracy guy either, I worked for a defense contractor for five years and prior to that i work for a government agency. I wish we would just get our act together, if we just took the subsidy money and used it for R&D in batteries and in new power sources we would make leap and bounds, we would ALL reap the benefits in new industries (which would create jobs!!! novel idea huh? putting money back into our economy???) and we could be competitive without outsourcing our asses off... it's a shame... c'est la vie.
sterling013,
How much stock do you have in the Bush and Cheney oil reserves? Since when is 9% profit not respectable? Do you realize that the largest retail business that all our live depend on (grocery stores) a 2% profit margin? I am not against more refineries being built but I totally oppose any more drilling in Alaska. I am not a tree hugging, muffin eating, Subaru driving, Birkenstock liberal like you may assume. I believe in the red, white, and blue and why I buy American to support big business but when they want to take our public lands then it's time to rumble.

Don't just take it and be the dog of the well connected oil companies. There has been proposed legislation to make gas price gouging a crime. Sign the petition here (nearly 200,000 Americans have already signed): http://pol.moveon.org/stoppricegouging/
I'd ordinarily also suggest keeping your car well tuned and the tires properly inflated to maximize fuel efficiency, but I know the company I'm keeping and understand it would be beyond unnecessary
Cheers!
