I hope I'm addressing this right,

I have a two story house and it's a real problem pumping cold air to the second floor and retaining it there. The cold air of course wants to sink back to the first floor and into the basement. At night the thermostat that is on the first floor, is satisfied being at 75 degrees and doesn't call for the AC to kick in. Second floor = too warm, first floor=perfect, basement=cold enough to hang meat. Any ideas?

I can fix this problem tonight, just write out a check for 108$ and take your squeeze out with the money.

b. Point at it with your finger.

c. Switch the Fan switch to ON or RUN

d. Get a rest tonight.'

What your describing is destratification of the house. The fan mixes the hot air up stairs with the other levels and the tstat corrects for the temp.

Woody AXim: The thermostat is a very inconsiderate lover, satisfies himself (herself to be PC ) and goes to sleep.


By running the lower powered fan the whole house air mass is mixed so that you dont have the momma bear baby bear and Poppa bear temperature differences of 4 -6 degrees per level.

The fan only runs a bit now with the stat and the air never is stirred, try it , like it and then write how it worked for you and your differences so that others can benefit........... The fan switch is there for your benefit use it and if your are not happy then get your bud to give back the meal weeee an easy one, Woody ENJOY>>>>>>>>>>

I tried you suggestion and it worked great. Because we're seldom upstairs during the day I think I'll keep the fan on auto until close to bedtime and then put it on run. I'm concerned that if I let the fan run full time I'll see a rise in my electric bill. Does this make sense ?

Honeywell stats are programmable and the new ones are programmable for the FAN function also, isnt that great, glad to help. Woody

 

the fan doesn't take that much power plus with the fan coming on and off all the time puts a lot of stress on the motor.
