yea silverfox, tvt has some massive advertising too, but thats ok. I guess they have selective enforcement on this site.

Met him at Cars and Coffee in April and he seemed like an OK kind of guy. Never would have suspected his dedication to his emblems and pulley was causing so many problems. But then I never suspected that my former next door neighbor, a retired doctor, was refusing to pay taxes until he skipped to Mexico and his unit was seized by the Marshall Service.

 

I think we are getting a little out of hand here, I understand SRTDANs case it was more then annoying, but something like this is more then acceptable, new people who are coming to this site have no clue where to search performance or what is out there. For what it is worth when you search CROSSFIRE performance in google nothing like TVT or LET come up, Its nice as a noob to see what is out there by sparking intrest from a link in ones avatar. I VOTE alow against banning all advertising. IF it is good enough for MBworld it should be good enough here regardless if they are paying there or not.

 

i do agree. i think the tiny little thing at tvt had was acceptable. as far as a big picture idk if i like how big it makes each section. but i dont notice it ever. what i did notice however were things like" i wanna clean the front end up. ive got a lot of bugs" DO YOU WANT AN EMBLEM??? HOW ABOUT A SUPERCHARGER PULLEY IT WILL CLEAN THE FRONT END RIGHT UP AND YOULL GO SO FAST BUGS WONT TOUCH YOU!!

 

i think tvt and srt6 dan are COMPLETELY different issues. i am not bothered by a little web link. heck it makes it easier for me to browse their site instead of having to go to google and type tvt and then see there page.

 

It's quite simple really. How do you exercise a rule evenly against all and expect it to be fair. You can't, so to avoid it all together you exercise the rule evenly and hope for the best. No special favors, treatment, etc. People are always gonna b1tch and complain, can't satisfy 100% of people 100% of the time. Pick your battles and this one you can't effect change, so just submit and move on.

Personally ignoring Dan's "enthusiasm" as one of his quirks worked for me. Advertising in your thread is essentially a victimless crime and as pointed out by others, the new forum members are able to find these services without having to sift through thousands of threads, or being counseled by self-appointed forum police for not properly using the search function. Keeping enthusiasts like Dan in the aftermarket of these disappearing cars, around as long as possible is in our best interest, but just my opinion and I'm not an administrator and rules are rules. However, not so in the case below, some “providers” need to be run out of town.

Why is this Aiden Designs “company”, one that has I'm told, committed far more serious offenses allowed to stay? Coming back a year later to conduct business when many people don't realize their past deceitful business practices is truly unacceptable and a huge disservice to the members of this forum, especially the new ones.

This is true hypocrisy to banish Dan for life for advertising services he actually provided, (no this isn’t Dan and I don’t know him) yet Aiden Designs apparently DID knowingly screw people and is allowed to return to provide or not provide their wares. Right now it looks like a case of occasionally annoying, but harmless vs. the dishonest opportunist. This is the internet where I’m a handsome, rich former astronaut and date models, as such we need to heed the warning signs when we get them and protect ourselves from threats when necessary. Dan didn't seem like a threat, other than to the order of the forum

As far as banning goes - I think that since this is not a paid membership and does not cost us a thing the moderators should be free to ban who they like. Why does it have to be fair? I think they try to be just and that is going to be a little different from one person's views compared to another's.

Does a cop ever give people breaks and let them off with a warning? YES! Is that fair to the others who did the exact same thing and got a ticket by the exact same cop? Will a judge care? NO! In fact, many times a cop will not even pull someone over to begin with and look for something bigger.

I think the mods. do a pretty good job on the site. I do think it is a bit harsh Dan has been banned especially being here from the beginning, but that is their call to make. And as I've heard many coaches say... if you're not cheating you're not trying hard enough - lol. Definitely gotta give Dan credit for persistance - maybe if he would have been a little more subtle.

 

Aiden Design has now been permanently banned for 'inappropriate business practice' ... this is not something we need to condone on our forum.

I'll miss Dan. Yeah, he could get a bit strident and yeah he might seem a tad annoying from time to time, but you could always count on him to add a little color and texture to the forum. I bought his emblems. They are nice. To honor Dan I was going to make this statement in a 2 inch tall, bold, puce font but don't have the technical no how.

 

Yea - SRT6Dan could be persistent and defiantly needed a refresher course on forum etiquette - but I've seen some down-right mean, nasty and personal attacks recently on this forum and those members are still around. And this after a stern warning about personal attack's from a moderator.

Why is it ok for Andrew to advertise his emblems in the coupe segment of the forum? It seems that per the rules Andrew should ban himself!
